When I first fired my 45acp P220 with fixed sights at a silhouette I was standing alongside of soon to be LAPD cadet using a Beretta 9mm watching him pepper the target and when I checked mine I thought I was missing until I pulled the target and found where the 100 rounds had gone there was a 2"...
I have a friend who hunts with a 6mm Ruger single shot for mule deer, whitetail and elk.Nice light recoiling rifle.Get a Limb Saver recoil pad or http://www.100straight.com for their recoil pads.BTW I had a torn right rotator cuff and a 50% tear in my right bicep.About a week before surgery I...
I use mag primers in my 4 06's and 300wm.Always used them in fall colorado hunts where the temp dropped as low as minus 40 degrees below zero on one occasion but usually in Nov it would be 10 to 15 degrees at night and in the morning.
I've been using IMR 4831 for over 20 years with adequate accuracy since I'm not shooting in a match I'm just aiming at an elk or deer I see no need for sub minute of angle groups, just my opinion. Some of my groups of 5 or 6 shots are about 5/8 inch up to 2.5+ inches but it's fine for the kill...
Most accurate bullet I've ever fired is the 165gr lead tip solid base in my bedded and tuned Sako 30-06 & a friend uses them exclusively in his 300 weatherby.I'll be using either 180 gr accubonds or 165gr solid base bullets for my elk hunt this year.
http://www.hodgdon.com and http://www.castperformance.com has load data.CP loads are suitable for handgun or rifle and Corbon uses cast perf bullets in their 41 mag+P loads

I have Encore 15" pistols: 454 casull & 30-06 and rifles: 24" 243 & a Bullberry 20" S&W 460 ;I use Leupold scopes plus 1 Pine Ridge Red Dot Scope made in Japan with circle dot,circle cross,cross and dot.
One of my friends uses the Nosler 165gr Solid Base.308 bullet in his 300 Weatherby for mule deer, bear & elk driven at 3400 fps +.BTW the best bullet for the 30-06 is the 165gr better velocity, impact & performance down range.
My favorite is the 30-06 which has killed every big game species on the N. American Continent and most in Africa after WW2 with all of the rifles and ammo left their by US Forces.I own a Sako Finnsport in 300wm with a Leupold 3x9x40 & CPC Reticle that is large enough for me.
A Speer tech told me to only use their 300gr jacketed .451 diameter bullet in the S&W 460 .A Sierra tech told me not to use any of their .451 diameter 240gr or 300gr bullets in the S&W 460 as they will shed their jackets creating an obstruction in the barrel. Hornaday does use their 240 &...

FYI the 165gr is the ideal weight bullet for all 30-06 rifles so sayeth several WW2 vets I met years ago who hunted all over the western USA.I believed them and the most accurate bullet I've ever loaded is the Solid Base put 5 in very tight group from my 06 Sako .
I have 2 OHAUS DU-O- Measures with a single drum for pistol and rifle. When powder measures were selling for $20+in the early 70's the OHAUS was over double that amt so I bought one and the other I bid on ebay a few months ago and got it,very accurate powder measures.RL22 would feed perfectly in...
Sako Finnbear in 30-06 Bullets:Sierra Game Kings in 165 & 180gr,Nosler 165gr PT , SB & BT.Powder IMR 4831,H4831,IMR4895 & Ball C2.Friends were former WW2 vets who used 06's for everything and explained that the best all around bullet for the 06 is the 165gr but they loaded 180gr for Elk.
