I know that the 375R is a bit different but I have had very good luck with H100V, IMR4895, and Ramshot Big Game. All these loads have been with a 260 AB though. You might look at trying a 300 AB. I have been very impressed with the 260AB in mine.
It is a bit of a pain, but gives good harvest data. Plus I know that this is the year I'm going to win the good tag they give away for reporting on time. I thought last year was my year, but I guess its this year
I have been thinking about upgrading a few of the plates at my range as well. Mine are all mild steel. The 300, and 400 are 1" thick, they take a pretty good beating. A lot of metal has been moved around on them. I find that after I get out past 800yards even my 338 RUM with a 250 VLD just...
I had great luck with H1000 and the 105 A max in my 243. It was either 47 or 47.5 gr. I can't remember. I was susing Nosler brass, and getting 3040 I think. It shot very well. My rifle was a 1:9.25 as well. RL-25 worked really well also. If I had to do it over again, I would give RL-26 a try. It...
I have been having this same discussion with myself lately.
I think I have myself talked into a 6mm Creedmoor set up to shoot the 105 and 115 weight bullets. I have a friend that has a 6x47L and he has taken a pile of critters with it. I also have a friend that built a 6xc, and it shoots stupid...
That is a fine WT buck for sure! I have that Muzzle stuffer tag this year and haven't had much luck finding the time to get out. Passed on a few small ones, but nothing to get me excited yet.
A good friend of mine got a nice one with his Hawkins, not that big, but a dang nice 140 class buck.
Thanks guys. I really enjoy taking her. I find that I enjoy taking other people as much as I enjoy hunting for myself.
I'm sure she would be ok with that. But if you wanting a big elk, don't waste your time or money on Oregon. If you just want an elk, there are a few good units.
I guess I never really worried about the temp sensativity with that round. It was my winter yote round so all I ever used it in was late fall through mid spring then I switched over to the 105 A Max with H1000 for gongs. I don't think that they are hard to get to shoot. I shot Big Game with the...
Thanks guys. I have some meat thawing out on the counter right now for some jerky.
This is the second elk she has taken at 680 yards with this rifle. She took a nice cow a year ago with it on the same ranch. I joke with her that the only time she listens to me is when she has a rifle in her hands.
2995 with the Remington Brass.
I shot it out after 6 firings. Switched to Nosler brass and it looks like I'm going to have to drop down a full grain to get the same speed and accuracy. Same charge in the nosler brass got me to 3040fps. Groups opened up and was getting ejector marks.
I'm have been looking really hard at the Sightron SIII 6-24. It can be had for the bottom end of your price scale and the reviews comparing it to higher $ scopes seem to be favorable.
I have not been able to put my hands on one yet, so at this point it's all based on lots of hours of readying...

After appplying for elk in Oregon for 10 years and not drawing a bull tag, my wife decided that she wanted to burn her points and try to get a bull. She has been shooting a 284 Winchester that I built for her for a couple of years now and has gotten quite good with it.
We hunted the first...
I'm happy for you buddy. Very glad it turned out as you had hoped. The 280 Ai is a very fine all around rifle. I have built several rifles since I built my 280 AI and I find myself taking it on several trips a year or loaning it out to very close firends. It does everything I ask of it. I'm sure...
I shot a pile of these out of my Savage 12 in 243. I had reallly good luck with them on yotes with H380. That powder worked great with these and the 55 Bt.
I'm going to come right out of the gate and say that I have never been a big Berger guy for hunting ( I had also never tried them). BUT, I have a heavy and a light 6.5 SAUM that shoot them very well, and I wanted to try them on deer this year as my 142 ABLR load isn't developed fully yet...
