I have used TGKs in a 7mm Rem Mag and ELD-Xs in a 6.5 PRC on deer and had great results. However, I have used Ballistic Tips FAR more than either, and in a while herd of calibers, with equal success.

I had the chance to stop by the store yesterday and look at it again, closer. Nothing different to describe except I noticed the action is one with Nazi proof marks. I also ascertained the barrel is a 24 inch heavy sporter . It has a Tasco 3-9x as well.

I realize this isn't the 143 ELD-X but my Tikka did this today with the 147 ELD-M , 51.3 RL-23, and Federal 215 magnum primers. I wasn't able to get a speed on them because my chronograph is being a problem child but based on Hornady data it should be around 2900.
If you still carry your Kimber often I would lean towards a set of grips for it. It would make the gun look nice and you could carry a piece of your dad with you every time it's on you.
