Federal Flight Control is not a marketing gimmick... HUGE difference.

I've gotten similar results with 00 buck out of several 870's too. Turkey loads with Flitecontrol wads are my first choice for the same reason. Ron

My stepson used these several years ago in a 35 Whelen and killed a nice 12 pt. It worked great, no complaints.

    any knowledge

I have used TGKs in a 7mm Rem Mag and ELD-Xs in a 6.5 PRC on deer and had great results. However, I have used Ballistic Tips FAR more than either, and in a while herd of calibers, with equal success. Ron

    6.5-06

I had the chance to stop by the store yesterday and look at it again, closer. Nothing different to describe except I noticed the action is one with Nazi proof marks. I also ascertained the barrel is a 24 inch heavy sporter . It has a Tasco 3-9x as well. The guys at the store said the previous...

Reloading for it isn't a problem. I would have to get dies, of course, but I already have brass to convert.

    6.5-06

My LGS recently acquired a rifle in this caliber. It's a 98 Mauser action with unknown brand barrel and trigger in a walnut stock. I have known of this caliber for many years but never owned one among my 6.5s. In researching it after seeing the rifle, it seems to me it is similar in performance...

I own a farm so I get a free any-deer tag for that (so does my wife) and in Missouri you can buy one resident any-deer and 1-2 antlerless tags depending on the county you live in. However, if you want to play the game, you can buy tags and fill up to 2 antlerless tags in the counties that allow...

    Another Lesson or Two

Yesterday morning my oldest stepson shot a doe at 35ish yds withs a 35 Remington using FTX factory loads. He said she took off like a missile and he tracked her about 100 yds. When cleaning her we found the bullet had destroyed the liver and the rear portion of the lungs but, again, the ability...

    Favorite Powder for .358 Win

I have a Browning BLR 358 using the same bullets. I use that fabled pixie dust called Varget and have gotten groups in the .6's at 100 yds. Ron

Opening day buck. Tikka T3x, 6.5 PRC, Nightforce SHV 5-20, handload RL-23 and 147 ELD-M. 95 yards. Bang flop.

My brother bought a 6.5 PRC, now I gotta load for it

I realize this isn't the 143 ELD-X but my Tikka did this today with the 147 ELD-M , 51.3 RL-23, and Federal 215 magnum primers. I wasn't able to get a speed on them because my chronograph is being a problem child but based on Hornady data it should be around 2900.

What to do with a pretty stock?

If you still carry your Kimber often I would lean towards a set of grips for it. It would make the gun look nice and you could carry a piece of your dad with you every time it's on you. Ron
