How many of you are considering a tri-pod to shoot off of for hunting?

I generally use my hand on one of the legs and twist the sling to apply tension to the front of the rifle.

    Bear Fence

If you smell like food something is bound to try to eat you. I haven’t had any real issues when keeping a clean camp. Only times bears have been a problem was in large camps where people got careless with food and trash.

    WHAT TO HUNT

40 mile herd numbers are down. I wouldn’t bank on that hunt even opening this year and the competition for that hunt is insane.

    KKM BARELL

I’ve never heard a bad thing about kkm barrels. I’ve only used one kkm barrel and have used several lone wolf barrels. They all have worked well but sometimes need a bit of breaking in

    WHAT TO HUNT

Caribou is going to be tough. Numbers are down in road accessible herds. Unless you go up the haul road and hike the mile off the road. Access is tough for caribou without flying out or. Getting a boat to drop you off somewhere. Black bear is available and doable for a walk in off the road...

That 9.3 is almost too pretty to drag into the woods!

Yes it is a 1895 that was rebarreled in 35 whelen. It’s currently at the smith getting cut to 20” and a scout scope rail and sights

I think I still have that piece I made for my 375, we can use it as a template and have one milled for yours. Just takes any aluminum rail to make one very easily and easy to install in a wood stock.

    Changing Red Dots

https://www.wildwestguns.com/product/laser-light-mount-1895/ This is the one I had on my marlin. http://skinnersights.com/lever-light-mounts.html Skinners mount looks to be more universal. I have all used a Remington rear scope base glued and screewed to the side of a bold gun stock. And...

    Changing Red Dots

I’m a big fan of the scout setup as a general medium range hunting option. Having quick release rings and a good ghost ring is a great backup option. Either way a weapon mounted light is a game changer when it’s dark and things goes western.

    Changing Red Dots

I guess I’m really hijacked your red dot post. The defender looks pretty good. I’ve used the venom on a g40. It served me very well. Easily doubling my effective range with the 10mm. I currently have a couple RMR and several holosun micro dots. They all seem to work about the same but...

    Changing Red Dots

The only slug I view as adequate would be the brennekke black magic. Buckshot and traditional foster style slugs have proven ineffective, with pitiful penetration and little terminal effect. Mostly you see fishermen carrying shotguns. It’s more of a “feel good” than effective defense. There...

    Changing Red Dots

This might become controversial but I wouldn’t put much faith in your shotgun for bear defense. I have been unimpressed with shotguns on bears. Shotguns are great for bunnies, birds, and burglars. Stick to the rifle for bears.

    Tungsten Guide Rod

I have the steel guide rod and 20 pound springs in both my Glock 20 and lone wolf Timberwolf long slide. It seems to be s good compromise weight spring for all loads

    .257 heavies

There is plenty of head room to load the heavies long in the 25/06. I’m really enjoying my 1-7 twist

    Glock 20 Gen 5 MOS

I got the lone wolf long slide for the Timberwolf lower. The extra weight of the long slide really dampens recoil and the grip angle of the Timberwolf frame points better for me. Below is a Glock 20 and the lone wolf Timberwolf 6”. Also the gunfighters inc kenai chest holster.
