I have mine mounted on my Nosler Model 48 Long Range using a one piece base with Nightforce rings. Also using a Bradley adjustable cheekrest to get the proper cheek weld. Best real life hunting distance so far was an elk at 802 yds ... still working towards my goal of 1,000 yards...

This years Elk was taken at 802 yards with my .30 Nosler shooting 180gr AccuBond. Retained weight was 125.8gr; losing 54.2gr's somewhere...about 30% of it's weight.

Bummer - I have had the exact opposite experience with my Classic Bay 1200 Pellet Stove Insert which I bought in 2002 and is still going strong 22 years later. Congratulations on reaching 83 years old! I've been into reloading since about 16 years old & still going strong over 4 decades later. Nice looking set of manuals ... matches mine as well! No plans on selling mine but will probably pass mine down to the son-in-law or grand-kids when it's time.

It's a great decision!! Saw a Meme... What I found amazing is that all the bump stocks that were lost in boating accidents back in 2017 miraculously washed on shore after the decision ....:unsure: Personally do not have one but it would be fun to play with.

Same here ... I prefer having one from the original mfg's therefore opted for the Colt even though I own other brands as well. Carried my Colt 1911 for about 10 years before sending it off to Wilson Combat for a list of extensive work I wanted done. Carried it for another 20+years and still own...

Personally I would opt for the Colt. I have shot and carried a Colt 1911 for 30+ years and have never regretted one bit having owned it. Nothing wrong with the Springfield - Don't own one but have seen them in the stores & they look nice.

Guy - I came to the same conclusion as your friend concerning Nosler Partitions ... I had too many hits result in core separation & switched to Ballistic Tips first then settled on Nosler's Combined Technology Ballistic Silvertip's & never looked back.
