I use the BL-C2 load with 120 TTSX in my son's 7-08. Killed several deer. Farthest has went 10 yards after the shot. We are actually going out with it this afternoon for free youth weekend in KY.
This is just a question and I am looking for a little feedback, not to be chastised, lol! I had a 243 a few years ago that I could not get to shoot anywhere close to "normal" velocities even at book max on a couple of different powders. It may have been someone on here or someone else that asked...
The 7mm ballistic tips are spoken for.
I will entertain any offers on the 243 bullets. If anyone would want the entire lot I would be willing to ship all at once.
Congrats on a fine harvest!! Always good to get first blood of the year and first blood for a new rifle. I hope to get first blood with my 6.5 creed this year!
Sold a rifle recently and do not have a need for several components in my reloading cabinet. I did not take a pic of everything and the ballistic silvertips in the pic have already been sold. If offering a trade I would look at 6.5mm, 7mm, 30 caliber bullets. Send me a message if interested...
The day I mentioned above shooting that 5 pt I can distinctly remember it being pretty cold that day. Probably about 32 degrees and when I began to field dress the deer (with guidance) my cold hands burned from the warmth of the bucks innards, lol!!!
5 pt buck at 11:00AM during KY rifle season. I was using a Remington 700 ADL in .270 with 150 gr winchester powerpoints. Deer dropped dead in his tracks, shot was about 40 yards. I was 13 and I will never forget it!
I really do not need a new rifle but I want something different that I do not already have. I currently already have calibers that run the gamete and would suffice for me to hunt anywhere in the world. But, I am a gun nut and I have cabela's points plus gift cards burning a hole in my pocket...
In my safe I have multiple's of
7-08 (one for my son and one for the rest of the family)

243
22LR
Muzzleloader

Brian, my brother and I have had some decent results with the SST. My wife killed a buck with a neck shot out of 243 using 95gr SST. My brother tried the 130 SST in my nephew's 270. Ended up taking two bucks with the load. One buck ran 30 yards and died and the other ran about 75 yards with an...
I too have tried to work up a load for 180 e tip in 30-06. Could not get them to group worth a darn. Got tired of messing with them and left them on the shelf with 15-20 bullets left in the box.
