Gil,
I agree with your choice of 150 gr bullets for the 280 Remington. If the BT doesn’t pan out, consider the 150 gr AB, ABLR or PT. Any one of those would definitely step up your 280 Rem should a bigger target of opportunity present itself while out hunting.

I have a similar problem. My wife says ok but I want a new one too! 😳
She’s been eyeing the Weatherby Capra in 25 Wby RPM. And of course she’s sold on the Leupold VX-5HD 3-15x44mm FireDot duplex.
I created a monster.

I started reloading back in 1974 with a RCBS JR press and dies for a 30-06. I still have that press and dies. I upgraded to a RCBS Rockchucker and then a Forester Co-Ax press which I absolutely love. The camming force is second to none.

I used to sell LEDs to the automotive industry. Green light falls into the middle of the visible spectrum 500-570 nm. Red light has a much broader visible spectrum that ranges from 630-750 nm. Lasers typically fall between 630-650 nm. The human eye can see the green spectrum easier than the red...
I’ve got a Remington 700 Classic 257 Roberts. I run the 115 gr BT at 3100 fps and it’s hammers WT deer. This is a magnum/ long action so I have a COAL of 2.900”.
Since you are building on a short action, you may be better served with flat base bullets to stay in the 2.800” COAL.

Nice looking rifle. Choosing the chambering may be determined by the intended purpose.
With modern powders there really isn’t a difference between the 308 Win and 30-06 Spfg. Either one will get you across the finish line.

The Winchester Ballistic Silver Tip is the Nosler Ballistic Tip with the Winchester Lubalox coating to the jacket and a gray polymer tip.
The Partition uses dual lead cores. The front core is designed to expand and is sometimes lost but the rear core is locked in to maintain weight for deep...
Welcome to the forum.
The Nosler BT was designed to be a deer bullet. I’ve taken countless deer with BTs in various calibers and weights resulting in a dead deer. Most are DRT but some have run but not far leaving a good blood trail. I’ve only recovered one.
BT’s are accurate. If you can’t get...
I have gotten aggressive with them calling the but I generally mock the hens. If a tom gobbles, I’ll call once or twice and then shut up. They will usually come in strutting but sometimes they sneak in.
It’s an addiction.
