Well that's about as accurate as it gets! Congrats.
Ya, I've had excellent results from the Ballistic Tip on mule deer, black bear, pronghorn and elk.
You should be good to go.

BTW, have been busy loading up more of those 45 cal 185 grain hollow-base plated Berry's bullets. Ten years since the start of this thread. I guess I like those doggone lightweight 45 bullets!
Just saw this! The 9mm from a 1911 is just sweet to shoot. Minimal recoil. Very easy to keep the sights on target.
Re effectiveness - I'm like you - I like seeing those great big .45 cal holes in the target. Real world shootings in recent years with up-to-date bullets are showing the 9mm to be...
Hornady's 44 cal XTP's strike me as pretty tough bullets. I have always liked them, but I don't count on a lot of expansion with them.
As others have said, going lighter and faster, say 180 or 200 gr bullets from Nosler or Hornady will likely get you the expansion.
Roy Yeager may have some...
I don't think anyone in that store knows me anymore. Used to have several friends who worked there. They just like having a grizzly on their bulletin board! :)

Ya, especially at the 5 yard line in 5 seconds - I didn't have time for a reload.
Target is fairly small. Sorry I don't have a photo of it - the targets get whisked away right after shooting and are scored.

It's real easy to throw a light charge or no charge while reloading handgun ammo.
Or for some real excitement to double-charge a case!
I don't know what happened in your case, but I'm awfully glad that you caught it. Kinda nice in the semi-auto that the squib wouldn't even operate the...
Our local gun shop & indoor range started a new monthly match. It's available pretty much anytime they're open.
All from low ready and each is a 10 shot string of fire:
5yards in 5 seconds
7 yards in 7 seconds
10 yards in 10 seconds
15 yards in 15 seconds
40 rounds total. They've got the...
I'm running low on my stash of 200 gr LSWC cast bullets. I'll finish them out by reloading 50-100 more then I'll switch to two other bullets I've had great results with in low-recoil target loads:
185 grain Nosler JHP - bought 3,000 of them back when Nosler/SPS had some great bargains on them...
Yup - the 'smith and the owner can call it pretty much anything they wish. "358 Win Mag" seems like a great description for a 338 bored out to .358" bore diameter.
