    .277 E-Tip Report

Great job with the report, and congrats on the bull. Did you find the powder charge with the E-tip to be close to regular cup and core bullets, or did you have to run a little lower charge? I'm thinking about trying this bullet in my own 270 next elk season. Thanks for your help, Steve

Can I get the Accubond to shoot??

Check the twist on your rifle, especially if it is an older rifle. Some of the older 250 Savages had 12" or 14" twist rates. If your's is newer it might have a 10" twist. It might work with the 10" twist, probably not if it's any slower. Steve

Hornady new dimention sizing die problem

Are you making the press "cam over" when you push down on the handle? I've had some cases where this was necessary to resize the brass enough to chamber easily. In my experience whenever a cartridge was difficult to chamber, the shoulder has not been pushed enough. Sometimes during the sizing...

    45-70 load wanted using RL7

RR, I happen to have been rehashing an article in Handloader 248 (Aug-Sept 2007), that has a very good article on loading for the 45-70 by Brian Pearce. IMHO, he is probably one of the best contemporary authorities on this cartridge. He lists some loads using the 400 Speer flat softpoint and...

open note: to President Obamas administration.

I graduated from college at the end of the Carter Administration. I remember going to college with a plan for my future, and graduating in a hopeless situation. At the time I didn't think we would ever recover, but thanks to Ronald Reagan we did. I hoped to never see anything like that again...

    IMR4007SS

JD, The rifle we have ALREADY tried the RL22 in was a Savage. He likes the cartridge so much, he recently bought a Kimber 300 WSM. We plan on trying the same powder/bullet combination in the Kimber, since it worked so well in the Savage. Steve

JD, I used RL22 in my Dad's 300 WSM with 180 Accubonds. I got my info from the Nosler Manual. The loads shot very well. Steve

    300 Weatherby advice

redrider03, My Model 70 has a 24" barrel. It is also the push feed version. Some may consider this a bad thing, but I've always had really good luck with getting the later push feed versions to shoot, and they always seem to feed very smoothly out of the magazine. Steve

    300 Weatherby advice

OldMan, Thanks a bunch for the good pointers. I've dealt with a few Model 70's a while back, and after your post, I recall them being a little finicky about guard screw tension. I will keep this in mind. I am lucky about one thing, this is the older Winlite model, probably a mid to late '80's...

POP, Your 30-378 is a hummer with 200 Accubonds! If I were you, I'd give that bullet a 5 star rating as well. Mighty good shooting! Steve
