I've used one of these with great success, and they are cheap also. I like that the Havalon folds and can just be chucked in the pack/pocket/etc. Gotta have a little sheath...
Should be getting my Pac Nor 24" #4 stainless super match any day now. I'll be sure to add some pics once I get through break-in, but I expect nothing but excellent performance.
+1 to pleasant dealings with Penny.
Even if a guy were to do something a little less than intelligent like sending...
Thanks for the additional info everyone.
Thanks for bringing him up. I've actually been on his website before, but wasn't looking at reboring at the time. I'll have to check it out again.
I've seen anywhere from $290-$350 so far.
I had a good chuckle here, as for some reason the first thing that popped into my head was the vision of a man driving a sherman tank through some alders; now that would stop a bear!

Any tips you'd like to share on setting up the die to minimize expander ball induced runout would be greatly appreciated!
I tried leaving the die and decapping rod loose at the height I wanted in the press, then I raised a case into the die until it just engaged the outer neck sizing portion...
I have seen that on a bull that I shot once. He was hard quartering away and the arrow hit right behind the last rib. The bull ran off through the timber and we found him just a few mintues later about 60 yards from where I shot him. He had just a tiny trickle of blood coming down his side as...
Scotty, that sounds pretty much like how we like to cut up our deer too, although some of that "hamburger meat" is saved for jerky! The wife made shepards pie a few nights ago with some elk burger, and I'm looking forward to more of that!
CL, sounds like you guys have it figured out. It always...
That sounds (and looks) like an exceptional hunt Guy!
Some of the best memories I have are with family in the mountains, looking for a big mulie. I'm sure you and your son will be creating some great ones yourselves in a few days.
Good Luck!

 WOW, they must use some good hard stuff!
Now I just need to decide whether to rebore my extra barrel and eventually get a cheap donor action and stock for it's own build, or just save up about $600 and get a Ruger M77 Hawkeye off gunbroker :|

I fully intend to engage in the pursuit of a fine bruin this fall, and I've no doubts that I can get it done without the 358, I just think that a black bear would be right at the top of the list of hunts I'd like to make with the 358 win  .
The blackberries, plums and apples are all...
I read on Mr. Pederson's website that there are a number of barrels of different manufacture that are iffy to rebore. Luckily Savage wasn't one of them
It appears that Mr. LaBounty is retired, but that the man who apprenticed under him may have taken over his shop. I'll dig around a...
Thanks for sharing Guy,
I've been considering the 358 win for a few months now and have heard nothing but praise by those few that load for this cartridge. For some reason I really like the idea of launching a big fat chunk of lead at something! I think it will offset my long range 284 build...
Thanks guys, it looks like Dan Pederson may be the way to go. I need to find out if $220 includes a new neck/throat or if that is considered rechambering. As I understand it, all dimensions other than neck diameter are the same between the 308 and 358 win. If it does that would be a great value...
+1 I've only used accubonds on elk, but sure wouldn't hesitate to use a partition. Whatever you can get to shoot better in your rifle would be my suggestion, given the two choices.

So I am somewhat enamored with the 358 win. I've got a 20" 308 win barrel that I'm not using. Does someone know of a good smith that can rebore my 308 win to 358 win? Any idea of cost?
Thanks guys,

Nicely done ROVERT!
I know that the Savage 10 PC comes w a 20" bbl and someone sure coulda stuck it in the choate stock. Though now that I look at it, mine has the smooth barrel nut and I see yours has the grooves.
+1 for Dillon progressive presses. Have used the XL650 to load for 40 S&W for several years now and like Bruce, the only trouble I ever had was with plated bullets, and by trouble I mean that I just had to be extra careful seating the bullets. Everything else fed right through. When feeding...
