I've only seen one wolf in the wild and it was standing on the edge of the Clearwater river SW of Lolo pass. I saw it from a bend in the road first and thought it was a deer (it was standing in the snow in the shade across the river which wasn't very wide that high up) but when we came around...
Mike,
Thanks for sharing your trials and tribulations with getting the NFs to shoot in your rifles. They seem like a great company to deal with and you certainly make a good argument toward the effectiveness of their design.
I still think I have to agree with FOTIS and here's why:
I shoot...
OK sorry guys, but now I'm a little confused :?
Just to clarify what I think has been said, DrMike's original procedure described how to arrive at the empty case volume, while onesonek's procedure was for measuring available case capacity for a given bullet/seating depth combo in a given...
As far as accuracy is concerned, I've read quite a bit about the theoretical benefits of flatbase over boattail when using shorter for caliber bullets. The idea is that the shorter boattails have a higher likelyhood of starting down the bore slightly canted to the bore's axis because they are...
Awesome looking mountains Guy, they kinda remind me of the eagle caps here in oregon. Have you been able to pack in your camp in years past with horses? It is a lot of fun and can get pretty interesting, even with veteran horses and mules. If you've never done it I hope you get the chance, if...
My dream hunt would definitely involve both my bros bein there and if confined to NA would occur in Alaska for sure! Quarry could be just about anything, but optimally each of us would hunt a different animal so all three could experience them.
Well said! That brought to mind the time jmad and I woke up in the middle of the night on an archery hunt where we had just tossed our sleeping bags out under a tree at the end of the day. Woke up under a full moon and bright stars to the sound of a bull coming down the saddle we were in. He was...
YouTube is so cool! Thanks for sharing that owen, I'll probably have to watch that a few more times. Main thing that I took away from that video: I need a hook
He never even sharpened his knife!
Super 7, I agree that hanging for skinning/gutting it very nice. As me and my bro have...
Good luck to you! You could be doing them a big favor if they uncover an abberation in some stage of the process that led to a bad batch or something and they can get it fixed or recalled in time. I wouldn't think that they could afford to have a reputation based on that kind of performance.
+1 to all of the above! Do you ever look for mushrooms in the spring? Looks like some good timber for it from your pics. It always seems to add a nice little surprise to those spring romps when you find a patch or two of morels!
Thanks for all of the advice!
Mason: Thanks for sharing your article. It definitely taught me a thing or two, and reinforced many of the things I'd discovered my first time or two.
After having a few under my belt so to speak I am quick to agree that a working surface of the right height can...
Hunting those Gemsbok in the brush over there was the most challenging/rewarding hunt I have had so far. I'll put a pic or two up tonight!
...just to help illustrate AB effectiveness on African plains game
atm
The first few times I hunted big game was on our farm. As such, it was pretty easy to load them up and bring them to the shop to hang for skinning/cleaning. Then it was off to the butcher and a few weeks and many dollars later we would pick up our cut'n'wrapped meat. This was very convenient...
RF,
What you guys are sayin makes a lot of sense. Now that I think about my own experiences, it is always when the case is about 2/3 into the die that the pressure builds. I've always just lubed the whole outside case body out of habit I guess. Sure wouldn't mind having less to clean off...
