35 caliber sectioned and recovered bullets

Very cool! Thanks for sharing that. How did you cut the bullets in half and keep them in such good shape?

    alternative case lube

Cool, I think i'm gonna have to get set up that way since I only load for one rifle. Sounds like Imperial sizing wax and just bumpin the shoulder will be just the ticket. Thanks for all the info.

    2011 Hunting Pictures

As jmad mentioned I brain tanned a coyote once. Had a book that I used for instruction. I can't seem to find it on the shelf (too many books lol) but I think it was called "How to Tan Hides the Indian Way" or something like that. Don't remeber enough of the process to explain it all here, but...

    plainsgame and accubonds

Used 180 AB's in my .308 win to kill a N'yala and Gemsbok in South Africa. First shot on Gemsbok was sideways at about 130 yds through rear portion of both shoulders; the bullet passed through and right on out the other side. Needless to say there wasn't much tracking done. N'yala was in the...

    Oregon Spring Bear

All right, you guys have inspired me! I was always hesitant to shoot one as I wasn't too sure if they were any good. Only had sausage and pepperoni from my brother's bear. It was good, but wasn't sure i needed that much pepperoni lol! We have plenty of them in the Blues, so I guess I'll have to...

    alternative case lube

I guess if you're using a collet neck die, then the only real friction point between die and case would be on the body...ok, that makes sense. Is the reason it only touches the bottom third because you're using a FL die to just bump the shoulder back and trying to minimize case body sizing?

    More Washington Elk

A buddy sent me this from Hanford. What are they feeding them?

    Oregon Spring Bear

Dr Mike, Have you noticed any difference between spring and fall bear meat as far as flavor or condition? I've always heard that bear was greasy, though i've never had a steak or anything other than sausage so I couldn't say myself.

    My Recent Panda Hunt

If you've ever seen the Jack Links beef jerky commercials you know why you shouldn't mess with sasquatch

    alternative case lube

Just curious, but why only on the bottom third?

    Neck Tension for Seating Bullets

I was under the impression (quite possibly false :? ) that the madrel diameter controlled the amount of neck tension produced by the Lee die by controlling the internal diameter of the neck as it is pressed against the mandrel by the collet. With this setup, would your neck tension change with...

    Johan Loubser

Was about to suggest Harold Vaughn, but he was born in '24 and retired from his professional career in '86, so I'm not sure if he would still qualify...

    Too Tall's Reloading Room

Made me laugh  MAN CAVE indeed! With a view even! I need a good poster in mine or something, cause i just stare at the wall :(

    Neck Tension for Seating Bullets

So is he recommending using a mandrel that is .001 smaller than your bullet diameter? Do necks have the same spring back after being sized with the lee collet as they do with other sizers? In other words, once you remove your sized case, do you find that the internal neck diameter is the same as...

    Quantity Loading

+1 for the Dillon. Even with a basic setup you can roll out 14 rds/min when you're reloading your primer and case tube manually. Very well built, sturdy peice of equipment; well worth the price if you want to do large volume pistol loading. Have never used it for rifle yet...

    Picked up a 6.5-20x44 Viper

I would just like to note that it wasn't this brother  Leave it to the marine to get banged up on a simple bear hunting trip lol!

just something to try, debunking a barrel life myth

Ridge Runner: It seems through some of your observations, we can draw a few conclusions. Your example of the prairie dog hunt, I think, illustrates a good point in the barrel erosion topic that I'm sure many here already know but I'll post anyways for the sake of conversation. I seem to remember...

just something to try, debunking a barrel life myth

Sounds logical to me. I've yet to shoot the barrel out of any of my guns, so from a practical standpoint I can't say it's of huge concern to me...yet  Still fun to consider though!
