    Simple pleasures

I had pink salmon Monday evening. A little oil and some Kosher salt and a quick bake at 375 degrees. Fresh asparagus and we were set with a fine feast.

    Chronograph

Guy, despite the presence of a Garmin (or a LabRadar or an Oehler), I keep my notebook on the bench with me. I suppose that makes me "old school."

    My Favorite 45 Revolver

I had one of these in 45 Colt, but foolishly let it get away when a friend wanted it more than I did. It is a sweet piece, that's for sure.

Thought I'd give a quick update on Gil and Susan. I had a call from Gil yesterday. The couple likely won't be home for at least another two weeks, or possibly even three weeks. Gil has had three surgeries on his leg and anticipates at least one more surgery, and a surgery to repair his...

    What do you see?

He appears to have been in good shape when you took him, Jim. He didn't get that big by accident. He had obviously been feeding well, and that meant a depletion of fawns and poults.

The consideration demonstrated by the concerned posters here is heartwarming. This is a truly selfless, utterly compassionate suggestion that should be taken seriously by any dedicated gun crank!

Favorite Lever Action Rifle and Cartridge

Well, I'd be happy to accommodate you with one of my three Model 94s chambered in .356. DHS would get all flabbergasted and pitch a fit undoubtedly. I tried to gift Scotty with a .307 Winchester, but ATF said they would permit it. Something about fear of a Canadian invasion of the USA or...

    Which One?

Interesting. I've had one of three different 280s for thirty years. Two were Winchester Model 70, and one was a Remington Model 700. Each of these rifles has always worked to ensure there was venison on our table. Can't see myself without a .280.

    Which One?

Either bullet will serve you well. And either load in your 308 will work very well on game. I sure like the 280, having used the cartridge for years to harvest a good number of mule deer and whitetails.
