    280 Remington rebarrell project.

I have always been happy with the 280 Rem and how it has performed for me, with the 1:10 twist barrels in a #3 contour. (My favourite cartridge.) 😎 I just could not get the accuracy out of the pencil thin barrels on the Rem 700 Mountain rifles, that I know the cartridge is capable of. I am...

A unique mount that she'll love as it was made for her by dear ol' Dad! And one she'll treasure as being her first!

    Off chasing fallow

Best of luck and enjoy the adventure! Rifles look ready to perform. I know that I really enjoyed hunting fallow buck; they are challenging! Looking forward to doing it again!

    Tikka T3x Roughtech

Looks like you've got 3 loads that will work for you; the TGK, the BT and the AB! Nice to have choices! I'd hunt all kinds of big game with those loads! (But would prefer the AB for elk, just for the extra penetration and weight retention.) Love to hear your on-game performance with the TGKs, as...

    this seasons hunting plans

Due to the accident, my hunting plans for this fall have been cancelled. Should be able to do some load development for the new 25 Creedmoor!:D But at least we had a great hunt is South Africa before the accident! 😎 I would love to be able to get out for a couple of days late this fall...

Working up a load for my "new" 1992 Browning Bar 338 Win Mag.

Honestly, with the grouping you got with 6 rounds of the 225 gr AB load with 63.0 gr of H-380 at 2512 fps, I would hunt with that accuracy out to reasonable distances (300 yards or less). :D It still shows potential, and I would shoot several groups and determine what the average 3-shot group...

    6.5 Creedmoor and barrel length?

There is no rhyme or reason as to why a barrel will, or will not, like certain bullets and/or certain bullet weights. You must try each rifle to determine which your firearm is going to prefer. Even barrels that come of the production line in consecutive order may shoot completely different one...

    What recoil pad?

Yes, LimbSaver had an issue in the early years where the rubber broke down on the pads, including those installed on firearms by Remington, but they did warranty them with the improved product, and hasn't been an issue since. Luckily, I only had one pad that broke down and had to be replaced.

    The .41 Special

I believe that this was originally proposed back in the 50s and I believe produced in the 60s, with a 200 gr bullet at 900 fps. Not sure what barrel length it was from??? Seems like a nice mild load version that could be shot out of a 41 Rem Mag, but not certain... 🤔 A S&W DA would be nice...

    What recoil pad?

I have used both on rifles over the years, and like them both, but have found that the LimbSaver pad produces less felt recoil on the harder recoiling rifles. Example. my old LH Rem 700 BDL in 338 Win Mag would leave me sore and bruised after 20 rounds of Federal Premium 210 gr Partition ammo...

    Accubond problems

Yes, it appears you have an older box where this occurred when they were first introduced. I had 3 or 4 do this in the first year with the 30 cal 180 gr ABs. I even had one inserted in the bullet backwards...loaded it but haven't shot it as yet...kind of a unique item! Has not been a problem...

    Velocity and accuracy

I always aim for accuracy potential first. If I can achieve accuracy and velocity, within safe pressures in my rifle, I will happily take it.After all, 1.5 MOA is accurate enough for 95% of the hunting/shooting most of us average shooters/hunters participate in. While I will accept this level in...

    257 Roberts +P

Regardless of the stamp on the brass, all manufacturers must build in a factor of safety into their product so that it can tolerate additional pressure or stress, as they have no control over the end user. What that factor of safety may be, may well be up to the manufacturer and their risk...

New way to buy a gun

A guy has to get to the range in style to shoot one's guns!😎 And when you fire all 4 barrels at once, there's substantial muzzle (er, muffler) blast and recoil! :devilish: Apologies to WVBB for hijacking the thread! But I know you have a great sense of humour and would probably appreciate this...

Don't I know it! The only pay back is I now own half a 1970 Challenger Legacy R/T with a 440 Magnum! At least I get to drive it once in a while too!

    Howa 1500

If the Howa is meant for mostly cold/inclement weather, you might like the grippy texture of the Hogue stock...but if it will see year round use, you'll probably be happier with a Boyd's stock in the long run. Howa's tend to shoot well enough, but the additional stability of the laminate stock...
