    270 accubond

For sure. It was good back then as far as customer service. I still remember all the red tipped 160 ABs I was able to get.

280 Rem Loaded to 270 win Pressure

Don't shoot the messenger, but for a 280 Rem, I pretty much use a 10 grain lighter bullet load data for a 270. Meaning, if I have 140's for the 280, I feel pretty comfortable using 130 data for a 270 Win. All else being equal they are twins. I wouldn't just blankly do that across the board...

    270 accubond

I put a S&B 3-12 back on my Kimber 270 Win. The load I am using is H4831SC, WW cases, CCI200's and 150 AB's. I started off at 20 yards. First was left, adjusted a little right, shot the 2nd one. Went back to 100 and shot the bottom 3. Made one adjustment and shot the next 3. Then I...

    Bergers for Hunting or Not?

Makes sense fellas. I’ll have to look and see if I have anything on the shelf buck worthy.

    Bergers for Hunting or Not?

Could very well be Jim. I’m not likely to find out too much about them probably. I know a lot of folks do well with them and I’ve used the Lapua Scenars some as well which I think must have a harder core since they tend to act like “normal” cup and cores to me. I guess my only thought was no...

Good luck on your travels and your hunt. Sounds like the makings of a great time!

    Bergers for Hunting or Not?

No expert, but Bergers HP isn’t big enough to guarantee expansion like that in my opinion. I do know under the tiny HP is a lot of space before the core. There is no skivving on the jacket for anything to uniformly peel. I also think if it opened like that it would blow up on bone extremely...

What is your favourite metric cartridge?

7x57 Mauser would be mine. Right now I just collected all of the pieces to do a Kimber Mountain Ascent 84L and a Lilja 7mm 1-7 barrel to make a little lightweight hammer. I have a Winchester SuperGrade Featherweight that’s a dream to shoot and my son has a good old XTR Featherweight that’s very...

Powder for 300 Weatherby with 180 grain bullets

I doubt you’d be smashing it. QL is weird with Wby and RUMs. At 109% I’d almost bet you’ll barely be touching the base of the bullet. H1000 and 7828 are very similar in fill.

    Best targets for open sights?

I use brown butcher paper as a background and a white paper plate from 9-14” in diameter depending on distance. I use a 6 o’clock hold on everything iron sights. It’s the only way I can be precise enough with the big sharps or even a peep sighted 760. The brown on black contrast works for me...

    Bergers for Hunting or Not?

Never used one hunting. Shot a few on paper over the years. Why does it matter if the tip is cleaned out on a Berger? Doesn’t the nose just collapse on impact? Sorry for the question. I was wondering when a few said make sure the tip is cleaned out. I always thought they initiated...

    Quickload Help

It’s one of my favorite all around combos. Pick a good bullet and stuff gets laid down.

Powder for 300 Weatherby with 180 grain bullets

What about H1000 or Ramshot Grand. Both are very available and have worked well in a few Wbys I’ve loaded.

Agreed. I’ve been reading and listening and watching this with interest.

    338 RCM 180 NBT & 200NBT quickload data please?

I’d think it’s a kissing cousin to the 338-06 since it’s darned near the same capacity +/- a hair depending on brass. Very cool rifle. Always wanted one. To find a lefty was a great score.

    175 grain ABLR elk recovery

Same experience. Great bullet. For me I start them .050 from a solid touch. Then work back further if needed. Just started loading tonight, trying the 168’s in my 7 WSM. They’re just a whisker shorter than a 180 ELD.

    175 grain ABLR elk recovery

I bought the 170’s as seconds but they’ve been great so far. Sitting around 3/4” or a touch better around 3100 in my Mashburn.

    175 grain ABLR elk recovery

Just my opinion on the ABLR, It acts like what I hear Bergers do, open quickly and dump a lot of energy in the target, then with the bonded base, they penetrate like a regular AB or PT. They are deadly in the 7 animals I’ve taken with the 129 and 175 ABLRs from deer to elk. I’ve heard they...

Hornady's new 257 Ackley Improved (Improved) or AII

I heard their podcast and it’s sounds like they just kept tight CM/PRc tolerances on the throat while doing a standard Ackley case. By all accounts it should be a great little rifle.
