That is a solid shooter!

Not the same rifle but I’ve shot the cartridge a bunch. Retumbo, H1000, 25, 26, 570, 33 and SB HD all have worked really well. You have to try pretty hard to run out of space in that big case.

The slower powders will work best for that, no matter the barrel length if you want the most speed. Sounds like a killer rifle.

Another big Whelen fan here. I have 3 at last count and always have room for another. Might need to dust off the bolt gun this year and work it out a little.

Never had a problem with excellent expansion on deer/ elk with a few Accubonds. Typically they’ve been much quicker killers for me. It’s good to have choices.

I’m praying for you that you got some rifling in the .257 barrel Gil. It’d be a stern talk with BM if they forgot:LOL:

Sierras tend to be pretty soft as far as 44 cal bullets. Maybe load up a few and try them in water filled milk/water jugs at your desired max range to see if they meet the grade.

That’s great stuff right there. Both 140 BT and TGK are pretty great as they sit. Be interesting to see how they work at distance.

It’s good to see Swift getting into this arena. I like their bullets and this just broadens opportunities to use them more.

I started with 22, used a lot of 25, Retumbo, Magnum, H1000, 7828, 26, and some others I’m probably forgetting. The 270 was and always has been pretty easy. All of them got 150’s up over 3100 without too much trouble. Some knocked down 3200 with 150’s. Still one of my favorites.

I can’t see much, if any difference from a PT and Accubond these days and kinda default to ABs more these days. They’re usually a little more accurate at distance and on game they have worked amazing.

I started on an RCBS Partner Press. Moved to a Coax probably close to 20 years ago. I also have a Redding T7 that I use a lot with handgun and rifle cartridges that don’t fit the larger jaws of the Coax. Still use my Partner press for bullet sizing operations. Love the COAX.
