Storing Powder and Primers in a Residents

I was curios as to why codes specify wooden cabinets for storing powder. Seems the wooden cabinets are less hazardous to fire fighters and the general vicinity in a fire because progressive powder needs pressure to "explode". A metal cabinet or a refrigerator could create enough pressure to...

Storing Powder and Primers in a Residents

Seems most codes state a wood cabinet that has one inch sides.

    My first Scimitar oryx

Mason Mountain WMA has Giant Oryx ( gemsbok) and Scimitar Oryx by public hunt draw. It's a fully guided hunt on the state's dime.

Great story on the hunt. Maybe the Texas Parks and Wildlife will grace me with an Oryx tag this year.

7mm Rem Mag 140gr AccuBond Trophy Grade Ammunition vs 7mm Rem Mag 150gr Ballistic Tip Hunting Ammunition

Considering it's for deer hunting at moderate ranges, and considering the cost of Nosler ammo, I'd buy a couple of boxes of 150 gr Remington CoreLoc ammo and go out and shoot the rifle some.

Need help with damaged Rem 722 action

I think a 722 extractor is one of the parts that are no longer available. You're likely gonna need an alternate extractor. I'll modify this statement, it's the extractor for a .222 that's hens teeth.

They don't want to admit any fault in case of future damage responsibility.

I posted this in Feb 2023. This round had been loaded for 8 months. I noticed the powder was going bad so I pulled bullets on everything I previously loaded. This was IMR-4155. I wonder what the results would of been if I pulled the trigger on them.

Reloading 257 Roberts and 115 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip

My Model 700 classic 257 Roberts has been my favorite rifle since I bought it in 1982. I've killed more coyotes, bobcats, javalina, and deer with it than any other rifle I own, even though I take a 220 swift to the field when I'm varmint hunting and a 7mm Rem mag or 270 win when I'm deer...

    Sorting brass by weight

The last time I weighed brass was Nosler 270 Win cases. The weight of the brass only varied by 1.5 grs highest to lowest. The water volume weight varied only 0.6 grs. I did it to give Dr Mike data to run a quickload.

    Lead Sled Question

If you don't have a bag of lead shot a couple of 10lb barbels will suffice.

That would explain the dark discoloration around plastic tip.

    Velocity and accuracy

I reload for peak performance from my rifles which means top velocity and the best consistent groups. If I can't obtain both, I moving on to a different combination.

    Accubond problems

I've run into that problem numerous times but only with seconds. I sent Nosler an email with a photo and they gave me store credit in the proshop. They made no statement about what caused the breakage.

    257 Roberts +P

There is no definitive difference between different 257 Roberts brass. Different brass have very slight dimensional differences due to brass web and wall thickness. Remington brass has less powder capacity then Winchester and I've found the Nosler brass very close to the Winchester. Some...

    QL request 257 roberts.

They are QL projections. The QL projections were certain amount of powder would create a certain velocity and pressure. In this case they were spot on. And of course no obvious signs of excessive pressure.
