It's not a 1911 Guy but I did okay with my Springfield Armory XD40 Sub-Compact 40 S&W. Just got home from our annual trek up to Plains to shoot, visit, and have breakfast. Good time. The next one will be in September here in Missoula. We've had a bunch of rain but it was nice and sunny...
This is a 5x2 bull I killed a few years back. He was not broken on the left side, it grew that way! A couple years later I saw a bull identical to him but maybe a year or two older and a bit larger rack but it was the same 5x2 as this one.
Beautiful pistol Guy and Springfield Armory makes some great pistols. I had two Springfield Armory XD40's when I was working. I carried a 4" on my belt and a 3" sub-compact on my ankle. They always went bang when you pulled the trigger and I could shoot them well.
On the qualification I am going to in a week roughly, they record the firearm, caliber, and serial number of the one that you qualify with. The fall qualification here locally does not do that. I think that information shouldn't be kept and that it is the fact that you qualified is what is...
Way to go Guy. I will be doing mine on the 22nd of the month if I remember correctly. I will be shooting my Springfield Armory XD40 sub compact 40 S&W with the 3" barrel. I really like that pistol and it shoots very well. I qualified last spring and last fall with my Ruger LCP Max in .380...
My good friend has a 338 Federal and it has surely performed for him. He has taken deer, antelope, several elk, and one bison bull with it. Big stick in a small package.
Lots of great advise from all but for me I would shoot the 130 gr. Nosler Accubond over the 130 gr. Ballistic Tip on game and never look back. Try loading a few up with the data and seating die left set as you have it for your ballistic tips. You might be surprised that you don't have to...
I like the video's as well Guy. I still think you folks should build a 6mm Remington with a 1-8 twist or 1-7.5 on a 3" length or slightly longer action so you can seat those heavy bullets out there where they should be. The 6mm Remington is as good as the 6mm Creedmoor or any of those other...
I have not used them and won't use them on Game Animals. I want a bullet that will expand nicely, retain some weight, and penetrate like it should. When I was in H.S. hunting with my father one year I had a nice buck antelope stop broadside from me at about 50 yards standing broadside. I...
One spring quite a few years ago I got one of the tick diseases. Not sure which one. The doctor just put me on really high medication to combat the effects I was having to fight the disease. He said it didn't matter which one I had, the remedy was the same. I was running 102-103 degree...
Sorry for your loss. No matter if your son or daughter are adults or not when they die, our children still are not supposed to go before us. It's a difficult journey to go on for sure. As with others here, my wife and I also had a child pass away and it's hard. Prayers for you and your...
