Single shots have been popular in my family for about 145 years as far as I know. My great grandfather was a hunter for the railroad in the late 1860's, used a Remington Rolling Block rifle. Never been hunting with a multi-shot rifle or pistol in my life. One shot one kill, later.
The only 3 wildcats I shoot are the .375 JDJ, the .257 Roberts AI and the 280 Rem. AI. I have used the .375 JDJ on deer, wild hogs and a moose hunt. I use the 257 for varmint hunting and I am very pleased with that cartridge. I haven't shot the 280 AI much, I haven't had time. I just purchased...
I have 5 encore frames, 4 contender frames. I have 14 encore barrels and 9 tender barrels. Everything from 22 lr to 45-70. All I shoot anymore are singleshot pistols. Later.
I shoot the 180 ballistic tip at about 2400 fps, works great. Try 43.5 gr. of IMR 4064, Fed. 210 primer in a Winchester case, works great for me.
Of course my barrel is 17 inches long.
I didn't have any load data from a manual so I just played it by ear.
I am shooting 62.5 grs. of H4895, Fed. 210 Primer, and 250 gr. Sierra, don't have any idea about velocity. I know that it is not an overload according to pressure signs on the case, I used the Hornady manual and worked up...
I would call JD JONES, he invented it, a gentlemen up at my range shoots one othese in a pistol [15" barrel]. When I see him I will try to gey some load data for you.
Last I looked MidwayUSA had .358 ammo for sale, they also have the brass for reloading. In my humble opinion it is the best 35 caliber round out there. I've killed hogs, deer, and one elk, it worked just fine.
I was beginning to think I had the only Encore pistol on .376, its good to know somebody else shoots that caliber.
The only bullet I've shot in mine has been the Sierra 250 gr. SPBT.
Good Shooting
Sorry about not answering your question, I haven't been on the computer alot lately. Drive a truck been gone alot.
As for the penetration of the 270 GR. bullet all I have shot is a feral hog and two deer. My brother shot all the way thru a moose at 125 yards.
To be honest I started using the...
I've used the Sierra's in a 8MM-06 Ackley Improved on wild hogs and they seem to work very well. Never killed anything bigger so I don't about anything else. I am shooting these in a 17" encore pistol barrel with a Simmons 4X pistol scope. It will stay in about an inch and a half at 100 yards...
I hunt with th T-C encore in 358 Winchester, I wouldn't hunt with any other caliber. It kills real well, has a fairly flat trjectory and don't kick real bad. Don't get any better than that. Iam sure there are better calibers but this works great for me.
DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR
I am a eocore shooter, have 17 diffirent calibers. Sure would be nice to have a T-C section in loading manual. Thanks for the 180 gr. partition bullet for the 358 winchester. I already use the 260 in the .375 JDJ, excellent bullet.
