Yes they were the 200s woodleigh design them for the 338 federal and 338 06 in 180s and 200s. The 225s would be good but they are designed for magnums so I was concerned they would be too hard. I ended up with a load running them at 2820fps
I can't really see where anyone is going to do anything that isn't simply reinventing the wheel. But as earlier stated, that not sell rifles, so there'll be someone out there with a tinkering mind and curiosity to burn that will reinvent something. I personally love my 30 06 and have , several...
About 6 hours west of Brisbane. Pigs do a lot of damage out there, it's good to help mates out. They have a 20000 acre property and it looks as though it's going to be a fantastic season, good for cattle but will also mean the pigs and kangaroos will breed up big time
These pigs aren't eaten! This is purely a pest control mission, they do huge damage to my friend's property and everyone dead is 1 less to steal food and cause destruction.
Scotty and I arrived at Mitchell at 4pm on Friday!
We had a chat to my mate who was working cattle, unloaded the quad and set off for a hunt. There was plenty of feed about so finding pigs in the usual spots was not working. We resorted to riding along the creeks. Not long before dark we found...
They are $44 a box here , i got the accubonds for $75 with a bit of searching, as previously said i rate the accubonds super high after seeing their performance in Africa from both my 30 06 and Guys 35 Whelan. At 2800 fps they should be about 24 inches low at 450 if the ballistic tables are...
Couldn't get hold of any 225 accubonds so I went with 200 gn accubonds. 56 gn of 2208 put 3 into just over half an inch at 100 yards. Will chrony the load and sight in once I've used the last 70 200 gn woodleighs I have loaded. Interesting that the accubonds printed 2 inches higher than the...
Yes, in Australia, and no it's called predictive text! at 20ish dollars a box i wouldn't even be asking a question but at 90 its a bit different. I thought about going lighter and faster but i think the energy advantages over flat trajectory are better. I won't take a shot at a distance...
Thank you all for the feed back. Main reason for looking at the accubonds was due to the excellent performance of them I had in Africa last year. It was nothing short of spectacular!! The cost of them for hunting purposes is not really an issue, i would gladly pay double after what I've seen...
Some opinions please, i am currently using a 200 gn woodleigh at 2700 fps , i can bump this up with another powder but before I start that process I want to investigate bullet options. I'm looking at combinations from 200 to 225 gn pills and want to use it next red deer season out to 350 to 400...
I know what you mean Guy, i live in red deer country here in Queensland and it took me 7 years to bag 1 and another 4 get what I would call a nice representative head. The big boys are very hard to get close to, that's why they're big I guess
The idea of hunting sheep is the motivation so I guess I'll start researching and entering the draw. Will Have a couple of years to get back into a financial position before I start entering as Murphy would surely raise his head and have me not being ready to go. I wanted a challenging hunt and...
