I prefer the Hornady SP SX in 55 grain. I have used them with a reduced load of Alliant 2400 powder getting ~2600 fps. This is very accurate out to 150 - 200 yards, around 5/8" I shoot prairie dogs with them. I am shooting a CZ 527 223 with 1 in 9 " twist. They may not be quite as accurate as a...
That load should work great for your deer hunt. I took a large Colorado doe antelope at 318 yards laser ranged October 2018. It was a through and through double lung and heart shot. She dropped right where she was, I know the antelope is not the same size as a deer, however that wont mater much...
I used the 130 grain in my 6.5 Creedmoor this year for Antelope.
316 yards range finder distance
double lung and heart through and through DRT
Nickle to Quarter size exit hole
I load for the 6.5x55 swede. I use the 129 grain Hornady SST and the 129 grain Nosler ABLR. So far I am having the most success with Hodgdon H4350. I have heard that H4350 is the exact same powder as ADI AR2209 but not sure. I am getting .311" groups with the SST and .730" with the ABLR...
I am asking because I have a CS-527 American. I thought it might be a good bullet for hogs. It just seemed interesting. Sorry to take up anyone's time and effort for a frivolous question. I will keep my questions to myself from now on.
I think I am going to revert back to using H4350 and save RL16 for a later date. I have good know load data from multiple published resources and I have 4lb's on hand. Thank you for all the good info.
I will try to find one in the Denver area. I looked on the big box store sites, they don't list them. I would prefer to buy local but if I cant find one here I will order one online.
Thank you for the info.
I have been looking for 6.5 Creedmoor load data using Reloder 16, Nosler 125g Partition and CCI #200 primers out of 22" barrel. I have seen the QL info of 45.4 grains with 105.4% case capacity @ 62300 PSI. I have seen load data of 44.4g with Sierra 130g BTHP. So I decided to load 44.5g under...
I just purchased a Howa 1500 in 6.5 Creedmoor. I am thinking about using either Laupa or Peterson small rifle primer brass. Will I need to change the firing pin or will the factory pin work properly?
Thank you
Mike
I purchased 50 pieces of used Norma 6.5x55 brass. I ran them through the brass cleaner, then full length sized them, then measured them to find out if they needed to be trimmed or not. I discovered that 27 of the 50 are really short, the other 23 are good. The shortest case is 2.079" and the...
SBJ358,
I too have a 6.5 Swede and I have been thinking about a CM. I am interested in the load you are getting using RL26, 140 gr AB's getting 2900fps. Please share.
Thank you.
My load is 44.5 grains H4350, CCI 200 primers, Nosler 129 grain ABLR, Norma brass, 3.1 OAL, slight crimp with Lee Factory Crimp die. It is a very nice accurate load low recoil.
I have a Howa 1500 in 6.5x55. I have loaded using the 129 gr Nosler ABLR with a COAL for 3.1. I use a Lee Factory Crip Die with a light crimp. I am getting 1/3" groups with the ABLR's.
It is a modern action. I bought a HOWA 1500 last year. I have 2 very accurate loads that will be great for pronghorn. I live in Colorado and the Barnes TTSX would be a great bullet for elk. I am a meat hunter so I only apply for cows or does.
