Actually Seattle is an interesting place to visit. I was downtown about a month ago. Compared to a weekend there in 2019, it was much better this time in terms of trashiness and vagrancy.
Vince, no disrespect meant when I write this. If the cost of the ferry ticket is make or break for a move to Alaska, you are likely going to be unpleasantly shocked when you get here.
Gent was peddling Chinese tactical scopes. Had a table full of them. As he was extolling their virtues of being every bit as good as Nightforce, I picked one up to look through it and the reticle was canted 15-20 degrees. He wanted to argue and call me a liar, I just put it down a smiled...
I went to one in New Braunfels TX a handful of years ago when I was down there visiting wife’s family. I was excited, it had been at least 25 years since I had been to one. Not a lot of gunshows in a 450 resident town in SE AK. I was very disappointed. Mostly AR’s, Chinese optics, folks...
That’s a beast of a load.
I read a guy online quite a bit that has all the pressure testing gear. Taken with the prescribed grain of salt, of course. He states from his extensive testing that book velocity equals book pressure, meaning if you are seeing excessive velocities you are...
Dan Armstrong does excellent work. He will tig the bolt handle back on and setup primary extraction. His bedside manner is that of a world - class surgeon, if you get my drift, but he is good as gold. I once sent him money with an action and included enough for return postage. It was like...
When you get your new brass, try jamming the bullet into the lands during the fire form. Use a reduced load. This should help with that initial stretch you are experiencing that is wrecking your cases. The Lee Collet dies work well. Eventually you will have to bump the shoulder with a FL...
SPS is one of the few I don’t have to argue with to put bullets and brass in the mail. Of course that doesn’t work for live ammo but we all know that. I have had excellent service. Hope your situation is resolved to your satisfaction.
I suspect there would be need for a real recoil lug incorporated into the conversion as well as a heavier stock. Should be about 9# all in to be tolerable. At least for me. Haha.
Rant:
There’s one in Juneau where we have to go for most of our supply. I don’t like it. There used to be a mom and pop gunshop in town, had a lot of stuff. He had some issues with ATFE of his own making, but he was getting through it. He had a ton of reloading supply. Sportsman’s pulled...
Tikkas are fantastic. The Finns do not abide mediocre performance in rifles. They work in conditions where many of our NA designs fail. I have one that I rebarreled to .338 Federal and I am psyching up to one in .416 Taylor.
