Hi all,
does there anybody here have a recent version of Quickload? I wonder if Vihtavuori N555 is in the latest version (3.9?)
If so, I'd be grateful if you could run a couple of simulations with the following parameters:
Caliber:7x57R (Rimmed, not the Mauser)
Powder: Vihtavuori N555...
Hi,
Some notes:
- There are no Vectan Tubal (Tu) powders in Quickload, only the SP. (SP7-SP13)
- I left the QL default case volume for the 30-06 cartridge (68.2gr H2O).
I found in my notes a batch of recovered Hornady brass that I had measured and the mean capacity after resizing was 69.5gr...
Hi all,
in some pictures the Nosler E-Tip bullet seems to have a ring, in some others not.
(See https://www.nosler.com/e-tip-lead-free-bullet)
I don't remember a ring on the first bullets I saw. Was the ring added recently?
Regards,
Gerard.
- Personal satisfaction, I like tinkering and doing things for myself.
- Cost and choice of bullets for some calibers like 6.5X68S or 30R Blaser. The only factory ammo I can get is so expensive (RWS and Sologne 65€ to 100€ per 20) it pays to reload.
- For common calibers, I have a huge choice of...
I found the note about the max. COL. for that rifle.
It was done with a 6mm wooden dowel in the barrel, first measuring the length with the dovel tip touching the bolt face, then touching a bullet pushed againt the rifling and getting the difference between the two lengths.
Not very accurate...
Thanks :)
I tried with a couple of bullets but I couldn't touch the lands even with the cartridge past the maximum COL (86.5mm / 3.405"). I think I have a note somewhere with the measurements.
It seems that the 6.5x68 has an extremely long free bore, like his smaller cousin the 6.5x57.
The Partizan is a soft bullet (some may say too soft for magnum calibers) but so is the RWS KS. I'm sure it is at least as good as the RWS, being a bit heavier .
Hi Bojan,
I have a Krico 6.5X68 with the same twist rate that I use to hunt european red deer.
From what i've seen most factory rifles in this caliber have that same twist rate (1:250mm).
It's a slow twist rate for a 6.5 and you may have problems stabilizing some 130 or 140 grains long bullets...
