    6.5-06

My 6.5-06 on a Sako 85 seems to like H1000 the best so far, but I have a ways to go. One oddity- when using .25-06 brass that I FL'd to 6.5, the brass shrinks in length on the first firing. I got a fair bit of 1x brass with the rifle and it's all on the short side, too, under 2.480". I bought...

    25-06 future

Just started working with my new to me Sako 85 that was re-barreled to 6.5-06 1:9 twist, 22" barrel. The previous owner sent along a bunch of 1x brass, but a lot of it is kinda short, 2.480" and less. In the .25-06's I had I tried to stick with 2.482-.484". I haven't gotten to work with it much...

jump to lands for some .264 bullets in 6.5-06

Good morning, I just picked up a Sako 85 that's been rebarreld to 6.5-06, with 1:9 twist. For starters I have Sierra Gamechangers, Sierra Gamekings, and Hornady SST, all 140 gr. Loading in .25-06 it seems those bullets like around .020" jump. Anyone have other experiences with these bullets ...

    Now that Varget is $60....

TAC is working well with the 150 gr TTSX. I'm using the minimum load on the Barnes data, 43.4 gr, at the recommenced OAL, 2.735". It's a long jump to the lands, but it's accurate, and did well on a small feral hog at 110-120 yards. Chrony said 2850 fps. Thanks for the suggestion on using TAC.

    Now that Varget is $60....

That's a bunch of good information, thanks. Good point on penny wise dollar foolish as far as testing. So far, the CFE and 150 Barnes TTSX hasn't done as well as the 150 AB and Varget. That load shoots better than I thought I could.

    Now that Varget is $60....

What's your next go-to for .308 Win ? Anyone tried CFE 223 ? A friend who's known to exaggerate a bit says it's the best thing since sliced bread. How about H335 ? I'm trying the CFE under 150 Barnes TTSX, looks promising but I haven't found The Load yet. The 150 AB with Varget was very good...

    Sako A7 in .308 loads, 150 vs 165

TX, thanks very much For the load data. My stock seems solid to me, is yours the rough texture green synthetic ? I’ll double check mine. It’s free floating from the action forward. When I got it I separated the stock and action, it seemed to be bedded to me. I’ll look again.

    Sako A7 in .308 loads, 150 vs 165

I got this rifle a bit ago, it had not been fired, and started working with it. I’ve loaded for a few other .308’s, but this one hasn’t given me The Load yet. I’ve mostly tried 165 gr Hornady Interlock, flat base. Looking around I see guys say they’re doing well with various 150’s. I have some...

    .270 Starline brass to .25-06

At least for me, it's been pretty straight forward. They come out of the FL die kinda long, and I take my time running them down with the Wilson rig and a battery drill. Neck thickness is the same for me, neck tension is tighter than new Rem brass, if I recall correctly. They chamber and shoot...

    .270 Starline brass to .25-06

Thanks for the help. If I see anything odd I'll check in. I'll sure start lower charges. I length trim every time around, seems the only way to get consistent crimp, to me. If .25-06 wasn't running $1 plus per on goingbroker I'd sure get some. This rifle will just have to start with the...

    .270 Starline brass to .25-06

Last fall when I decided to get another .25-06 the supply of brass was looking grim. I knew I had a bit of time to wait for the rifle. I ordered some .270 brass from Starline. I've got the rifle, got the brass, and have started sizing it. I'm wondering if the .270 would have less available...
