I still throw mine in the back of the truck or the SxS. I lifted the Northstar two years back though and there is no more throwing one back there. I put a temp headache rack in and run my winch over my roof and off the bed. It works great!
I thought I had a picture with the rack in it, but I...
I tried that today. I dropped my charge weight .005 and .01 and shot it again. My speeds dropped roughly 20 fps from .005 and about 35 fps from .01 but the bolt was the same situation. Even taking the fired brass and trying it again I was getting the same results. Just by dumb luck, my two shots...
I thought shoulder space early on, but it does it with factory ammo, never fired brass etc.. Last year I tried taking some Winchester brass that I didn’t plan on using again and bumping the shoulder back .007 from fire formed. It didn’t help the situation.
I’m curious on the primary...
I grease them decently often. Last year before hunting season I disassembled the entire bolt, cleaned and lubed it. Hoping to make life easier for ol sweet thing. It didn’t help much, but I always feel better knowing it’s done on all of my guns.
Christensen asked me to send this one back, I just really don’t want to do that. There is a decent gunsmith here local that I may need to talk to though.
Sorry for the errors, I’m doing this from my
Phone. They are 180g bullets and it’s a stiff bolt, not stuff. The edit function won’t show my post on here.
I’m a little puzzled. I got my wife a Christensen 300wsm a few years ago as her primary hunting rifle. We both love the gun, shoots awesome. We actually named it Laser because it doesn’t matter what you give it, it just shoots.
The only draw back, since day one the bolt is stiff with any fired...
Ah! Very cool. I have a lot of Canadian customers that work for Frac companies and are located around here and the south. Was just curious if you may be also. Sorry to derail this thread.
As stupid as this sounds, I have started staying away from ball powders because I can't stand the mess they make on my load bench and how much they seem to change POI with temperature.
With some of the trials I have done (at the recommendation from this forum and JD) seating deeper into the case, I am going back to the drawing board on my 6.5 PRC. I'm going to start at .050 (ogive) off the lands. Since I'm doing this, I was going to test some of the other powders I typically...
Not to derail the dirty 30 topic..
So you're panhandle? I grew up North East of Dallas. Family is all still there and we go often. Dad has land in San Saba that we hunt whitetail, hogs, and have now seen an Axis out there too. There is Axis hunting in Lano, we are thinking it just roamed...
I've loaded both and I don't care for the FTX in my 30/30's. They supposedly fly better, with less resistance and increase the accuracy node on this caliber... I have not seen that in any of my testing. The silvertip or the powerpoints in one of my model 94's shoots better than a lever should...
I myself have not seen a swing that large, but I don't have much experience with the 25-06 and hope to never expand on it haha. I can't sit here and say that I remember ever swing in primer change I have ever made, but i would venture to say I don't recall even 80fps. Don't know that I've went...
I'm still not a big fan of their stuff, but I think it's a mindset more than their actual stuff.. either way, no one can knock their customer service. It's top notch for sure.
There is two answers to this one; for guns I'm colleting I like the old world, rare calibers. The odd ball stuff is what I really want in those. Most of them I don't carry or shoot much.
For a lever I'm going to carry hunting I really like 44mag. I most frequently hunt with a lever in heavy...
Couldn't agree more. The first comment to OP should be reaching out to Winchester, doing a search on the lot number of primers he got and stop shooting that load until he figures out what is going on with Primers.
