    Finally got it back!

Great looking mounts! The Kudu turned out exceptional as well.

Weatherby Mark V Carbonmark 6.5 Wby RPM

I've been heavily considering this 6.5 RPM and like this gun along with the Alpine CT (I believe they both have the same barrel). I like to see success stories anytime, especially when I'm in a conundrum on my progression. Great rifle, and great shooting by Sue!

    Making room in your safe

Talk about the bolt.. I have a story to tell on this one haha My brother still lives in TX and I have moved off. We planned a hunting trip together for months, maybe close to a year... we called/text often talking about this trip, we were both super excited. The time finally came, I flew in...

    Talley Lightweight Scope mounts.

I lap many of my rings and check all of them for true before setting a scope in. I don't lap just for the heck of it though, I check them with my wheeler true gauges first. Of my Talley rings, I've not had to lap the rings. I have had to clean up the rail or make adjustments to the base on...

    Talley Lightweight Scope mounts.

I check all of mine as well, but I’ve never had an issue. I’ve never tried to send any back for warranty, I just know the paper that comes with them says you void the warranty if you lap them.

    Use Enough Gun

I struggle with both sides of this fence as well. I have heard stories of people with small calibers, right placement, animal DRT.. I have had so many examples in real life of people hunting will smaller calibers, great shot, animal ran. I think the bullet type is a huge factor in this and I...

    Talley Lightweight Scope mounts.

I have a few sets and prefer Talley over most offerings. They machine cut them together so you don't have to lap them (actually you void the warranty if you do) they have some direct bolt options which I seek out, so no rail and introduction for more possible problem contact points. They hold...

Quickload request for my new to me Cooper

If you are after a more tame shot, drop to a 150 (partition or accubond) and try the faster powders. @jimbires got me into using this H4895 for reduced loads and I know it will work well here. I would go straight to that and start working on building a load there. I suspect your recoil would...

Woo Hoo! LEOSA Qual for 2026 is complete

These are great little pistols! I have an XDs in 45 I CC and my wife was an XDs in 9mm she CC. Great shooters! I had mine Cerakote’d a couple years back either an American flag design on it. It’s reliable and shoots straight.

    Where’s Dr Mike?

The trials and tribulations of the tax we pay for decisions we make when we are bullet proof and immortal can be heavy. At the end of the day, father time makes sure we all pay the piper. We are too smart to listen in our youth, too bullet proof to yield, and too proud to change course...

You are having better luck with the M's than anyone I know haha. Even the X's seem on the soft side to me. I stopped hunting with the ELD-X a few years back. Was running them in my X bolt - 6.5 PRC in a 24" barrel. They expand with vigor for sure.

    Fun with the 3D printer

I bought my kids a 3D printer for Christmas two years ago. My wife took over it and makes all kinds of things for around the house. She has made a handful of helpful reloading things for me. It really is pretty cool! My trays are all ones she has made me, I have some die tools and primer...

    Big game oddities?

That palmation is super common in the parts of Canada I go to for work. It looks pretty cool to me.

    Big game oddities?

I seen an Albino buck while hunting. It wasn't completely random as there was a lot of talk he was in the area (he stuck out like a sore thumb hahaha). He walked in on me and was within 50 yard. I felt like some great Indian Chief was looming in the air and years of bad jew jew would be upon...

I honestly can't recall if we or he ever lost any. I agree, I've had to track deer shot with 7 mag, 300 win, and so on. They typically aren't long tracks though. What bullet did you use on that mule deer with the two fist sized exit hole? Edit, I see you put ELD-M

Why horizontal stringing? 30-06 with high BC bullets

What's on the end of the barrel of this rifle? A 200+ grain .308 bullet should not move that much in 100 yard with only 5mph wind. Your speeds seem really fast for a 30-06 with this size bullet in it as well.

Only on whitetail, my experience is from a few years bake taking my buddies 15 year old son while he took his younger daughter. Chase hunted with a .223 for four years. We did a lot of tracking, every one of them! Then for his 16th birthday, he got "upgraded" to a 243.. haha

.223 is fantastic from a mild manner stand point, but shot placement is so important with those. That caliber is not very forgiving and most new, young hunters need all the forgiveness they can get haha. PA outlawed them for whitetail some years back, then brought it back.. then tried to...
