I have another idea, is there any way you can arrange to shoot from directly to the rear and just above the buff? come down into the base of the skull where it meets the spine and the 45-70 would do great the 7 would probably need a partition, failsafe or x bullet to keep from turning inside out...
DO NOT try to load 100grs of RL25 under a 180 gr bullet in the 300RUM without working up very cautiously to it! Alliants website data lists 96gr as MAX under a 180 swift A-frame and less then 90 as max under a 180 Barnes X-bullet. so start probably at 90 grains and work up slowly and you'll be...
Thanks guys, close will work I was going to start 4-5 grs light of whatever anyone gave me and see how it went as I worked up. I know I'd be pushing the limits but I only have the one rifle and want the best ballistics I can get at a distance.
Has anyone been able to push a 180 gr partition past 2800fps in a production rifle with a 22" bbl? I need some ideas for a single load for any purpose in my a-bolt. does anyone have data for H-4350 or H4831 w/ this bullet?
maybe you could legitimize the .280 Ackley Imp. ? be enough gun up to caribou at any reasonable range and for a good shot elk and black bear to at least 300 yds. All without a ground shaking muzzle blast or a sore shoulder when shooting for groups off the bench.
How about a 70gr in .224 for the AR guys and a 170 gr .323 for the folks with 8mm Mausers and 8mm-06 that want something tough but fast for deer and the 200gr .358 has some merit as well (maybe soft enough to work in a 35 rem t/c out to 150yds?) just some thoughts from a novice.
I haven't been able to afford a leupold myself yet but several of my family have them. My father has several on various rifles and has nothing but good things to say. I have to agree there isn't alot of help from the 50mm objective over the 40mm version(this coming from a person w/ a...
I was wondering if there was a safety reason behind not recomending spitzers loaded to the saami maximum length in a .300 Win Mag? A couple of friends and I are just getting started reloading and one has an older Savage 110 that will not allow much beyond 3.34 for a cartridge length. He wanted...
