I really like the Burris scopes. I have used a Droptine quite a bit recently and an older Fullfield F1 (I think) - good scopes, tough, good glass.
My only concern with the E1 was that the reticle was very fine in SFP. I had the same reticle in a FFP Veracity and it was great - simple enough to...
I looked through these in Toowoomba yesterday - great glass! And I'd just spent a few days using Leica Geovids so had a good idea of how good they needed to be.
Nice purchase!

Dicko.
I run Re25 behind the 120gn Speer Hot Cor and get around 3200fps out of a factory Hawkeyes barrel.
Might be 50fps slower, I can't remember off the top of my head.

G'day all,
Long time between posts! [emoji106]
In the process of setting up a 7600 Police in 308 for a few pigs off crops.
I have a Vortex Viper PST 1-4 (capped) on the way & would like to mount it as low as is possible. Using an EGW heavy duty rail.
What are my ring options? Are the...
POP,
Mine has at least 5mm of clearance - I haven't measured it however there is heaps of room and it's not touching anywhere at all back to the receiver.

Dicko.
G'day POP,
Let's just say the vertical stringing is substantial! Horizontal spread of the groups is quite fine.
Would bedding the hanger and floating the barrel be my first option?

Dicko.
G'day,
Just about every thread on Ruger # 1 accuracy has something about the tension wedges, Hicks accurizers, drilling & tapping forearm - and so on and so forth.
Just pulled the forearm off of my Ruger # 1 - there's heaps of clearance between the hanger and the barrel, I haven't measured it...
Yes I think I would get a lot out of it.
I spend hours upon hours pouring & mulling over load data ... no doubt I would find the information from Quickload fascinating and mighty useful.
Then I can stop pestering DrMike and POP for information!
I'll post results from this load when...
Hey thanks POP I appreciate your time.
Hodgdon Retumbo 110.0 61.3 3.97 3117 99.8 53895 13504 1.190
I have a letter from ADI saying that AR2225 is marketed in the US as Retumbo. Reading that information, a charge of 61.3gn would fill the case 110% and give me velocity of 3117fps at 53895...
I would be interested to know about this for sure!
Regards,
Dicko.
The only problem with the whole set up so far is that I can't see the front sight - too dull.
POP, you are correct - I love it!
I am impressed by it's overall handiness, ruggedness and style. I'm a fan of the Alexander Henry fore-end.
I admit 303 British was a nostalgic choice, however for most game in Australia it won't hold me back at all.
I'm hoping the weather clears up to see how...
After waiting 14 months since the initial order, and many "it's in this shipment" calls, I finally get to pick up my Ruger #1 in 303B and I can't wait.
With every picture I see of these rifles I can't help but admire the lines and I must admit I think I'll become a fan of the single shot.
I"ll...
Thank you in advance!
Nosler .257 115gn Ballistic Tip
Federal brass
Federal 210 primers
AR2225
24 inch barrel
I hope this combination will give me about 3100fps at low pressure.
Regards,
Dicko.
Dr Mike,
All the info I have found has said that AR2213 and AR2213SC have exactly the same burn rates etc.
I will pop off a few around 51.0gn this arvo hopefully. Velocity reading may increase a little, this day. Currently just off the lands by 3 thou, will try seating lower.
I may try a...
Popped off some 5 shot groups today:
3467fps with s.d. of 19.
Pulled a shot with the 1st 5 to get 1.29 MOA.
The 2nd 5 shots went into 0.78 MOA.
Velocity down 100fps over last lot of testing, more in line with the first.
Would this much variation be considered normal?
Either way it'll...
