    9.3x62 Mauser

They are fun. H414 3/8” bugholes with 250AB and it puts the hammer down on elk. Just remember don’t stop shooting until they are dead. That rifle is a JES rebore M70 Stainless Classic and is very light. Like 7.5 lbs if I remember right. It’s just a gentle shove.

Broken Sako extractor in M700 - what do you think?

I personally believe you got a bad part. It happens. They claim the standard 300 WBY 180 load to be at 3250. You could be over book max depending on powder lot. Just a lot of variables there.

    HOT group of wildcats!

Yeah I was just seeing the numbers and was thinking you were pushing it pretty hard. I got a 338-06AI can get 64gr of H414 or CFE223 had it up to 2820 with 225's and it was a little too hot. Had to come down to 2750 so that's why I was questioning when something about using 280 or 270 cases were...

Cold & Clean BBL first shot flyer

Exactly sometimes I can shoot 150-200 rounds in a day if I cleaned every 50 I'd never get a squirrel off a field. That said you will get a feeling when it's time. When you miss a 100 yard shot dead to rights and you have a legit 1/4" gun you know it's time.

    Recoil Intolerance..what gives?

Well said Guy. I'm in your boat. I can handle recoil but don't necessarily like it. When I shoot the bigs I shoot until tender and stop. I've free recoiled my 300 WBY it bites but manageable. I started with just a few rounds and slowly built my tolerance up. Didn't shoot a box the first time I...

    A bit of a rant.

    A bit of a rant.

Broke in one. Waste of time had others shoot as well if not better. First custom. Never again. Shoot first 20-100 and scrub barrel. Then clean when it tells you. Ain't gonna waste my time cleaning a barrel for hours that will only see 5-6 seconds of bullet time.

    6.5x55 moose load

That's in a tikka right Gerry? I think Scotty did some work with heavies in his Swede with RL-26 if I recall. Might try a 160 woody too.

    Spare Elk Rifle?

Exactly run a AB PT S2 or AF and be done with it. Just pick your shot and make sure it's close. A 25-06 isn't a 300 yard elk gun. 150-200 if things are perfect.

Cold & Clean BBL first shot flyer

I clean when groups open up. On my varmint rifles may be 400-500 rounds between cleanings then I don't clean until patches are white I clean until there's just a little bit of black on them. You can ruin a barrel just as fast by over cleaning them as under cleaning. Let the barrel tell you what...

    .220 Swift Improved ?

What bullet are you planning on using? That would be my first question. Then what barrel twist? Alpha brass makes 22 Creedmore brass that would put you in the same place I would think without fireforming. The 224 Valkyrie 22 Nosler and 22BR all have the same case capacity. With the Swift I don't...

    Elk Bullet?

What ever shoots the best. Make sure he can shoot the rifle and is very comfortable with it. If he can't shoot it doesn't matter what bullet you use.

2018 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road

Mike yes indeed I guess that makes me older than the dinosaurs as well. It has a real first gear in it too. Let the clutch out and your gone none of this Reving up or touching the throttle. Jim no idea. I have 388 miles on it. I'm think I can push 22. The gearing in the manual is shorter than...
