Scotty,
Throw back to good ol’ 2011! I love reading the classics on hunting so I better pick some of these up to check out. TR’s forward thinking and vision really shaped American hunting culture. His efforts kept hunting in the reach of “everyman” instead of something for the elites, as seen...
Gents,
Beautiful rifles for sure. Crazy that Winchester would let the ejection port issue ride and not fix it. It’s kind of a fly in the ointment and detracts from the rifle.

Joe
It’s easy to get hooked on the Kimbers and the 270! My wife’s little 257 Roberts classic select is a joy to carry afield because it’s so doggone light and handy. Combine that with the mild recoil of the 257 Roberts and it means that everyone wants to take mom’s rifle hunting!
I’ve got one...
Now that’s funny! I’ve got the opposite problem. I try to tell the wife that maybe we should get her something a little bigger than her 257 Roberts for elk, but she isn’t having it. She’s quick to remind me that I explained to her when we got it that it “would suffice for elk and be perfect for...
I borrowed a friend’s 300 Weatherby and shot a red deer at about 30 yards with his handloads with a 180 gr TSX on top. Through two lungs and a portion of the heart gone, but it still managed to run a hell of a long way with a tiny exit hole.
Take that for what you will, but I think the poly...
The only problem I ever had with mine was when I left the bolt open on a windy day and sand blew into it and gritted up the action. Lesson learned and it never happened again.

My sincerest condolences to you and your family on the passing of your father. What a blessing though that you were able to spend some time together and get in a few more laughs before he went to be with the Lord.

Joe
Man, Scotty hit the nail on the head as usual for me. I watched the YouTube video where Adam introduces the 6.5-300 Wby for the first time and loved it! It’s one thing to be an iconic American company, but when you find out that it’s run by a humble Christian pastor who loves the Lord, his...
In my youth I met a gunsmith who worked at Charlie’s Sporting Goods in Albuquerque. He had built a 7mm-378 Weatherby back in the day on a Mark V action and really seemed to like it. We talked a bit, as I had a 7mm Firebird (Lazzeroni cartridge) built by Roy Bedeaux that was fairly similar. RL...
Scotty,
Get that thing squared away with old school partitions and head north on a moose hunt! It doesn’t get much more John Nosler than that!
V/R,
Joe
It sounds like you are all set with your Accumark! 300 WBY has got plenty in the tank. Now it boils down to you and your practice at distance. Shooting at distance will allow you obtain accurate dope on your rifle and an understanding of your range limits. Explain that to your guide and he’ll...
They did a neat piece on P&T’s 375 H&H pre64 rifles in Sports Afield. Those guys were incredible and tough as woodpecker lips. It also talked about their using pre64s in 300 H&H for their sheep hunting exploits. Gotta love those old Model 70s!

Joe
