Not sure about the "fast shipping" part. My one and only order from them, for an item they had in stock, took three weeks to get to me and I only live about 250 miles away.
I have an X-Bolt in .243 that will shoot clover leafs all day with just about anything you load in her. However, I have noticed it likes the heavier bullets better. Fantastic rifle! Nice shooting, BTW!
Stopped by Bass Pro Shop in Concord, NC yesterday morning...they had six, one pound jugs each of 15, 17, 19, and 22...marked at $39.99/pound. However, they didn't have much else of anything.
I learned something about my 30-06 at the range Friday...
It loves 165gr. Accubonds with a 57.0 gr. load of IMR4350.
It pretty much liked every load I shot with 165grAB and IMR4350 but with 57.0 gr., it shot several sub1" 5-shot groups@100 yards...and I'm not that good of a shot. It didn't...
Was hoping to shoot the .243 for deer this season but we have a few good size bears roaming the property and I have a bear tag this year...so, I'm going with 165 gr. Accubond in my 30-06 just in case I get a shot at one of those bears.
Finally made it to the range to shoot this one. Put a Burris Fullfield II 6.5X-20X-50mm scope on it. After shooting a few rounds to get it sighted in, I shot several 4-shot, sub 1" groups @ 125 yards with 100 grain Winchester SuperX ammo on the 6.5X power. Can't wait to work up some handloads...
Can you crunch some numbers on...
.243 Winchester 22" barrel
Federal cases
Federal 210M primers
85 gr. Sierra HPBT
VV N160
and...
.243 Winchester 22" barrel
Winchester cases
Federal 210 primers
87 gr. Hornady V-Max
VV N160
TIA!!!
I've only shot out to 200 yards at the range where I'm a member...that's the max we have. A regular 3X9 hunting scope is plenty of glass there.
Now for you guys that shoot long range, say, out to 1,000 yards...what scope do you use for those long distance shots?
I've often wondered the same. I have two X-bolts (.243 and 30-06) that are very accurate. Last Saturday, I found an A-bolt Stalker, in .243, at a LGS for $512. I snatched it up without thinking about it. Going to put some good glass on it and make it a "range gun". I know I've posted it...
I'm a member at a private shooting range. This shortage has kept my local range very quiet...except for a few. Kinda nice having the whole range to yourself...
Not sure what you are looking at but I just compared the 30-06 with the 30-06AI in my #7 and they are different from each other. However, 30-06 in #7 is the same as it was in #6 with the exception of not listing AA3100 in #7. The 30-06AI is the same in #7 as it is in #6.
One difference I did...
Thanks, DrMike! I've been lurking for a long time, registered in October, 2012, but just decided to make a post out of curiosity because I had not seen much posted about H100V...a few posts here and there but that was all.
Great board here! I've learned tons of stuff from a lot of folks with...
I see shelves full of it and lots of it still available online.
I think its a great powder for the heavier bullets in .243 (90-100 grain). Plan on testing it with some 165gr. bullets in 30-06 this Spring.
Anyone else use it???
