    338-378 Wthby from 300-378 brass

I like the wax idea for sure and yes the RCBS expanders are rough, not too mention the knurled section in the middle of the tapper prior to the final expander size. Thanks for the suggestions and tips. Not sure just yet how this project will play out.

    338-378 Wthby from 300-378 brass

Has anyone had any luck necking up 300-378 to 338-378? My buddy just picked up a box of Nosler 300-378 at the Shooters Pro Shop and was told he could neck it up with no problem. After crushing two shoulders, we have put this on hold until we get more info. Dies are RCBS 338-378, applied case...

    Tried my hand at annealing

I have been doing the water pan method for a few years and it seems to work well, it keeps the web of the case cool which is critical so the case won't seperate, then heat the shoulder to a "warm orange" then tip it over in the water. once the cases dry I run them through the tumbler and most...

7.62X54 Russian Cheap plinker or a money pit - opinions?

That depends on what you want to do with it. If you are looking for a "plinker", it's one option for sure, they do however have a pretty good thump to them, but its not unbearable. Some shoot suprising well too, and ammo can be gotten for a fairly good deal. They are a liitle on "cool" side in...

Hornady 7mm or 30 Cal Short Neck Size Dies

Sounds like I might need to give them a try. Cost is certainly reasonable enough. Thanks for the feedback.

Hornady 7mm or 30 Cal Short Neck Size Dies

Looking to see if anyone has used these type of Neck size die from Hornady? They appear able to neck size multiple calibers per die. I am wanting to neck size 7-30 Waters and 30 Herrett, once they have been fire formed for my T/C Contender. The price is attractive but more interested in how...

    45 acp target load

yes .452 dia bullets work in the ACP and will likely work in the 45 Colt, especially new or newer made 45 Colts, both shoot large pistol primers. If you get some of the new "cleaner" 45 ACP ammo or once fired brass from it, some those cases could have small pistol primer pockets. So if you...

    45 acp target load

5.5 gr Win 231, and your choice of bullets from 185 gr all the way to 230 gr have provided excellent accuracy in my 1911 Springfield and XDm 45. I've somewhat settled on the 200gr LRNFP bullet style for overall best weight and bullet profile for both of these guns. I also prefer the Fed 150...

45 Colt Case Rim Diameter Variation

I have recently started shooting and reloading for 45 Colt. I have noticed my Win and Rem cases have a measurable case rim diameter variation and difference from the CBC case brass. I measured my #20 RCBS shell holder, (inside) and it came out at .511, I have Win and Rem brass rims which are...

    45 ACP

Win 231 is great, I've been shooting it for years. I have recently been trying both Unique and Red Dot, both of these shoot well for accuracy, but are on the dirty side. preferred bullet is a 200 Gr LRNFP. Fed 150 Large pistol primers, and what ever brass I have on hand to load. I also use a...

Back to Nosler basics with the 280 Rem.

If 140gr BT is not too light for your planned hunting, RL-19, 55grs, Fed 210 primer are shooting 1/2 inch or less in both a Ruger and Marlin (older model) 280 Rem. My Dad just got his Oregon Antelope this season with his 280, this load and a single shot at 312 yards.

    low recoil 308

I did a similar thing with 30-06 for my son when he started shooting and hunting, 15gr of Unique with either 125gr BT or 130 or 135 gr Single Shot pistol bullets from Hornady or Sierra all shot same POI at 100 yards and are great training loads and would work well on deer to 100 yards. this...

    Load 45 Colt on 460 S&W Dies?

I got my answer, seating die is too long to accomodate the 45 Colt case and apply a crimp.

    Load 45 Colt on 460 S&W Dies?

Will RCBS 460 S&W dies be capable of loading 45 Colt? I am not certain the die will be capable of crimping 45 Colt cases. Has anyone tried this and if was it worth the hassle of resetting the dies? I can get 45 Colt dies easy enough, just wanted to know if anyone has given this a try. thanks...

Inside Neck Reaming - 35 Remington

I may have found the issue. I have both Forster and Lyman trimmers with pilots, and chekced my Lyman (since I was starting with the Forster), my Lyman 35 cal Pilot measures .353, which is correct for the inside case mouth of the 35 Rem. Best I can conclude it the 35 cal Forster pilot is for...
