    Brass seconds

Thanks. What kind of weight variation have you experienced with the seconds? I try to keep all the cases I use for the 308 Win within 1 grain, so am I likely to end up with 20 out of the 50 being useful only for off hand practice? Ian

    Brass seconds

I was just looking in the Pro Shop, saw a good price on Nosler 308 Win brass. What is normally the reason this brass is sorted out from the 'firsts'? I like the quality of the Nosler brass I have bought elsewhere, and if the 2nds are even close they would be a good buy, but if they are...

    Differences in boxes of Noslers

My error. I was braindead at that time in the morning. The box was gold, all the other boxes were black. The odd thing was that the gold box was a lot smaller than the black ones, though it still held 50 bullets.

What do you want your bullet to do?

I agree with everything that most people have been saying, accuracy, penetration, frontal displacement are keys to a great bullet. What I would love is for bullet manufacturers to put out their planning ranges. For example, give minimal impact velocity at which their bullet will expand, and...

    Nosler Brass Help

I agree with everyone that it is great brass. I didn't know about the 2nds, so bought from Midway. The .308 Win brass I bought differed by only 1.2 grains between the heaviest and the lightest case in the box. Also, it was very straight, the run-out of the necks was all less than .02 even...

    Differences in boxes of Noslers

I just went to Cabella's and picked up a box of 180 grain .30 cal protected point partitions. There were two type of boxes, one all black and comparatively large, the other smaller and green. Both contain 50 bullets. I grabbed the smaller green box, since it was the only one that hadn't had...

    Brass question

I think it depends on the conditions. I have a .300 Weatherby that provides an ejector mark on every Norma case I use, but there is no sticky bolt lift and the primer pocket stays tight for 4 or 5 rounds. I have checked these cases on the RCBS Case Master and not found any problems. If I...

    Bullet selection for large hogs

I appreciate your replies, they both sound like good advice. Ian

    Bullet selection for large hogs

I do a lot of still hunting in the river bottoms for hogs, and occasionally come pretty close. The last one was just over three hundred pounds, I shot him at maybe 30 feet, and he had a couple of companions. Luckily their exit route was in the opposite direction, but I have had them head...
