I took my recently rebarreled NULA 24 in 25/06 to the range today.

I loaded up some 115gr nosler ballistic tips and 125gr hammer hunters.

I started with 55.5gr of retumbo with the 115gr noslers. 55.5gr got me 2940fps and 56gr got me 2970fps. I was getting slight ejector marks on the 56.0gr load but the accuracy was quite good. 5 shot group below. I had these loaded out to just kissing the lands. I think with a bit of jump the pressure will come down.

The 125gr hammer hunters wouldn’t fit in the magazine when seated to the lands. I was surprised when my initial load 56.5gr re25 g as ve a velocity of 3160fps with an SD of 13. I had expected a velocity of 2900-2950. I didn’t have any noticeable pressure signs or stiff bolt lift but at that speed I’m sure I must be getting up there in pressures. I’m going to pull the heavier charges and start lower on the 125gr hammers. As well as they where shooting I’m tempted to just load sone more up at that charge and see if the accuracy stays consistent.

I’m encouraged by how it’s shooting so far.

I loaded some Hammer Hunters for a friend using well established data for H1000. Dang near 200 feet faster with no obvious pressure signs. My understanding is HH will develope less pressure all other things being equal, or achieve greater velocity with the same pressure as other bullets.
Me I get all creepy crawly when I see velocity spikes. (160 grx284)

I’m not one to push a cartridge too hard. I’ll take accuracy over velocity any day of the week. Too many people try to ring every last drop out of thier cartridge and tread into dangerous waters.

I loaded another set of loads with this load as the max. If it continues to shoot this well I might stick with it.

I seated the rest of my BT loads back to 3.20” from the 3.25” I had them at. I’ll see if that makes a difference in pressure.

I've always figured if you want a 300, buy one. Trying to turn an 06 into a 300 is not such a good idea.

We have a similar design as Hammer bullets over here in Europe that deliver high speed at low pressure.
Had them tested and couldn't believe the results.
But further tests with other batches and powders confirmed the results.
3050 FPS and far below max pressure in a 308 and a 150 gr bullet was ok for me.
PS: QL calculated higher pressure.

Yes and if you use the Absolute Hammer expect 200-300 fps more. In fact you have to use faster powders with it because you run out of room with the slower ones.

Very exited because they are working on their upcoming Tipped Hammers with much improved BC!

I thought they had worked on a tipped version before and they scratched the idea because it wasn't opening up as well. I hope they figure something out
That's exciting

I did a little more load work up today. I backed the 125gr hammer load back to 56gr for 3110fps. It shows some promise.

I also picked up a box of Hornady 117gr whitetail ammo. It shot very well. I was really impressed with its consistency. Average velocity of 2989fps with an ES of 6. It shot exceptionally well considering.

The 3 shot group was the 125 hammer. The two 5 shot groups are the Hornady 117gr BTSP. At 100 and 300 yards.

Wow, that hornady is impressive for the price
Bear, how much does that rifle weight scoped?

Looks as if that rifle will work out quite well. Any of those groups are encouraging. You just may have a shooter on your hands.

I put a harvester evo in NFA purgatory today. Hopefully have it in 5-6 months.
