Looking for load using retumbo.I have finally got my hunting loads done using the 200 but would like to play with the 165. This rifle is a ruger no.1 with a #7 shilen super match, ratchet rifling and vias brake. Rebarreled by randy gregory at accuracy unlimited in medford wisconsin. Will try to get pics soon. If anybody is looking for a great smith that does incredible work on number 1s he is it. This is my second one from randy and turned out extremely accurate.thanks.

No problem buddy. Let us know how it works and a picture of that rifle would be a cool bonus!

yes it is, all of my load development thus far has been with the 200 and 230.

Please share your loads with the 230. Will be loading them tomorrow

i will find my data sheet but i settled on h1000 for powder. retumbo didn't do as well with the berger.

The 165 AccuBond is a fine bullet and will do a lot of things well. However, a .30/378 is not the optimal platform for the 165 bullets as you are only beating the .300 mags when you are only burning lght bullets which have low BC. The large capacity of the Weatherby .378 Magnum case is primarily designed for pushing hgh performance loads of 200 grain bullets and maybe even larger ones.

When you can throw a 200 gr Partition at 3100+ fps, there is no reason to burn up the barrel shooting really light bullets really fast in a large magnum. The optimal load is the 200 grain for consistant kills at any range with that caliber. Why take the abuse and fury of that large case if you are not going to load optimal bullets for caliber.

200gr are above AccuBond for the cartridge you are loading for, and certainly not the 165gr. Oldtrader and FOTIS have given you great advice.
