1911 build

How it currently sits with the 5" barrel and slide. Well actually back in pieces now. All that is left to install is the plunger tube, waiting on the staking tool.
Been able to run all of the safety checks and currently all pass, has taken fitting/adjusting bit by bit.
Now I'm thinking through what little things i want to do to make it mine; dehorn, flattened & coutersink slide stop pin, bead blast/polishing, checkering, and anything else that might come to mind.
There are some parts I'm already thinking about changing out, or at least using different ones on the next build. Fun so far looking forward to test firing and final fit&finish.
Did a quick polish on one side the short slide to see, boy do finger prints show easy

Well the staking tool made it in Saturday, so got everything installed and able to take it to the range. It didn't fall apart! Haha success! I was able to run 50 rounds of Norma 230 ball, and 20 rounds of Nosler 185 hollow point, using 3 different magazines and not one issue, the wife even put a magazine through it. To say I am happy, is an understatement. I didn't make it into the shop to test bead blasting or look thru the wood supply but that will come. There is a bit of work to do on the trigger, it is binding somewhere if you pull from low on the shoe. I'll figure that out, get in another range trip, then do the final finishing.
I did flatten and counter sink the slide stop pin, i like the look17814891560406811874655523419905.jpg
