1911 build

Very nice Roger. Looks like you have a great load. Best of luck to you in your upcoming match.

Thanks JD, unfortunately the ammo is surplus made by IMI and was made on a US military contract in 1987, I only have enough to shoot the upcoming match, but that is part of the game and I can always work up a good reload maybe not quite as good but it will be close to it. Like a rifle you have to find the node the gun likes and build around it and I have that node from the IMI ammo just need to recreate it.

Thanks, but I can't take full credit for it since I didn't build the gun or make the ammo, it's military surplus and the gun did everything except squeezing the trigger, the credit goes to the pistol smith for doing a great job building the pistol.
9 out 10 times, it is not the arrow, it is the Indian! (Or you can substitute the arrow with bullet, and the Indian with cowboy.)
You pulled the trigger = you produced the group!
They just helped you get the tool to do the work with.

Well I guess I'm a little bit of both, Great Grandmother was Cheerokee.

Slim Finn, I owe you an apology.
It was not my intention to overshadow your post on building your 1911.
I truly apologize for my actions.
No worries my friend! Its all good.

I dont have much of an update on the build, i did put another couple magazines through it yesterday without issue. Took your advice and just broke the edges on the trigger and that seemed to do the trick. Dont feel any more binding. I think one more range trip, then i will strip it down and do the final finishing. I did get a checkering file, but not decided if i will do the front strap or not.

Glad I could help out. There are lots of simple things you can do to improve the way it feels and works, I prefer stippling on the front strap due to in not biting into my fingers as I grip it and is easier to do. Take the main spring housing for instance, if you can feel it move when you cock or drop the hammer it should be lightly peened so you don't feel it move, it will cause your shots to be off center and for me it could mean a 9 instead of a 10.
