I've had my Kimber 300 WSM for a good many years. When I first got it I couldn't find any 180 Accubonds so I got my hands on some 200's. Accuracy was exceptional and velocity was over 2800 fps. I had always wanted to try some 180's and ultimately acquired a bunch for my 30-06, but never loaded any in the WSM until yesterday. I'm hovering just under 3000 fps and accuracy is as good as I care for. Four shots measured 1 5/8ths an inch at 200 yards. Impact is the same as the 200 AccuBond load so I think I'm calling it a day.

I suspect that load will kill anything going if you put it in the right spot. Probably be a little more pleasant to shoot too. Nice one.

How did they do in your 30-06? I haven't tried anything in my new to me Mod 70 FWT '06 yet, trying to decide if I want to try 180s in it. I've always used 150-168s and the 200pt. I've only used 180s in 300 mags.

lefty,

Sounds like a great load. As mentioned, SPS has some cool Orange Tipped 180 gr AB's.

I hear the orange-tip bullets are the HOT setup, flying flatter, more accurate, and killing game "more-deader" quicker... (y)

Lefty - that's some fine shooting at 200 yards from a fairly light, fairly powerful rifle! Good work.

I just finished load development with the 180 AB's in a Blaser R8 in .30-06. <.5 MOA repeatedly.

I used IMR 4451 at 55 grains and ended up .080" from the lands in this rifle.

They have always shot extremely well in my '06. Just this year I decided to try some 165 grain Accubonds in the '06, no real reason other than boredom.

Guy, I've heard the orange tips will make the animals run and hide this year, makes them think a laser beam is headed their way:)
