Well we got back late this past Sunday night and we had quite the week. Basically we had to road hunt as it was so wet up north that you could not get around.
The hunter that we talked with that were hunting in the forest were not seeing anything and were continually pulling each other out of the water. So I was glad that we did not go back into the forest. Monday & Tuesday it rained almost continually and then Tuesday night it went down to minus 5 and there was a good frost the next morning just at sunrise we caught a spiker out feeding and were able to knock him down. It took us almost 1 hour to get him out of the field and he was old 236 yards from the main grid. By the time we got him to the bush edge so that we did not cross any crop swaths it was almost the hour.
Real nice got it to the butcher and dressed it was 290lbs not a lot but we will get some sausage made and some steaks.
I hope to get the few photos down loaded and then if someone who know how to load could put them on line.
I used my 130gr partitions and they did a heck of a job. I only have a 100 left now and then ABs from now on. Well the guys are leaving for draw moose tonight as it starts on Friday. It looks that the forcast is for no rain but sunny and hot can make it tough to as for the moose we have to go back into the forest. I will know tomorrow if I am going on Saturday as a couple of the guys may have canceled out. :)
Sorry there was not much of a story but I still have Moose maybe and then Mule deer and white tail seasons are just starting

Blessings,
Dan

It has been a wet season here as well, Dan. Good that you dropped an elk. Best of luck on moose.

Thanks DrMike, I was wondering if you could send me email if you don't mind and I will send you the photos to post :)

Blessings,
Dan

Hey, that sounds like a lot of work but you stayed at it and ended up with something. Way to go by hanging in there. It will be much more pleasant eating the steaks because you won't have to drag them anywhere, just stick a fork in it and have fun.

Sounds like you had fun even though momma nature was not nice!

Dan

Sounds like yoi adapted and conected that what hunting is all about. A spike is always nice and he was certainly a nice sized one. Good luck on your next hunt. !!! I want to see the pictures.

I am headed out for morning PT, hot and sunny again here today!!!

Great hunt Dan. Glad to here the PT's worked again! I know I would be pretty happy with a spiker in my freezer, that is for sure! Wish you luck on the moose and deer hunts. Shoot, with a 100 PT's left, you have 100 more deer or elk to kill before you have change over! Scotty

Congratulations on the elk hunt! That's great. Looks like you've still got some good hunting ahead of you as well.

Guy

Here are some pictures of Dan's elk:

Dan,

There will be some good eating from that fellow.

Great pictures Dan! All I can see is a BBQ and steaks grilling when I look at your pictures though! Scotty
