I have a 1965 rem700 SA ADL. The Wood stock Cracked through the Action Lug area. I glued it but Accuracy was erratic. The stock was also heavy for a Compact Rifle. I picked up a Recent Synthetic Takeoff ADL from a very Helpful Predator hunter. Trigger had never been touched since it left the factory in 65, So I adjusted it to a crisp hunting let off. No Gage but I'll guess about 3lb. I did not Bed the action due to how the Remington synthetic stock is designed. I felt it was unneeded. Fit was perfect, Which surprised me. 1965 700ADL SA Standard Sporter barrel, fit the 2013 Synthetic stock Like it was custom made for it. Mounted a VXIII 2.5-8x36 in Medium Weaver Rings. Claw Sling. First test at the range with a new load,125gr Nosler Ballistic tip, WW brass, Fed210, 51.5gr W748 OAL 2.780 Shot well for this Rifle.P9010005.jpg

Solid rifle. They don't make them like that any more.
You are on your way with the load work, keep at it and you will get there in short order.

I have a couple that age. As a suggestion, you might try the CC 168 or the Seirra GK with Varget or RL-15 for a tighter load. If you are using it for big game a heavier bullet such as an AB or other 150+ gr bullet.

46 grs IMR4895 with that 125 BT usually shoots bug holes in most any 308 I have tried it in. It runs right at 3000 fps from my 21 1/2" barrel which is perfect for deer. I have killed a bunch with this load.

Horizontal spread looks pretty good. Vertical needs work.

Keep going...
Vertical is the rifle. Very temp sensitive. The three in a nice group are shot 1-2 then 3 is high then I let the barrel cool a few minutes shot 4 then 5 was high. Cool barrel like it is while hunting, is exactly where I want it. Good enough for 300yrds or less. Which is the Maximum range most of my shooting will be. Thick Hunting terrain, So the 125gr at 3100fps is to put them down right now. No tracking required.

Sounds good to me!

The 125 gr B-Tip at about 3100 fps worked great for my friend Dani on her big-bodied whitetail buck last season. Instant drop!

Very accurate bullet too.

Yes, I'm quite satisfied when my hunting rifles group MOA or better, for three shots. That's all I need to fill tags... :)

Did The Chronograph work on this load 51.5gr W748 125gr Ballistic tip. 3047fps average. 308 125gr.jpg

Good load development you got there, i would say. Makes it all worth it when it comes together like that.

G'Day Fella's,

Baltz526, going on that second group you posted, that's more typical of what most .308Win's will do!
And some Great Shootin there as well!!!

What a transformation a new stock can have and now you have a Dead Set Keeper, that you can have confidence in!

Doh!

I was doing a 5 shot string over chronograph. First 4 are the group. 5th who knows, it felt good when I touched the trigger. 125gr Seconds so It might have had a tiny flaw, on the heel. Or I squeezed on the wrong Heart beat. After the 4th shot, I thought I should just quit. Ruined a cool picture

The .308 shoots well, have decided to shoot one for comps this year just to see how it will stack up. The picture is a four round group shot at 780 yards. The first shot was high right, the last three were fired after the correction. The accuracy is there with the .308 however it quickly falls on its face around the 950 mark. The vertical on this pretty good.
