So here's a rookie mistake (only been loading for 4 or 5 years).
I've played with the 60 grn partitions before, but noted feeding problems, and I couldn't get great groups with them. Anyway, I still had another box of bullets so I figured I'd just load them up.
I was sizing them to max O.A.L. of 2.260". Due to magazine restriction, I don't load farther out, but I do have the Hornady tool for measuring OAL (I just never happened to use those bullets for that measurement).
Well, this time I tried to chamber them again and got a wild hair to measure OAL after chambering rounds. Well, they came out at 2.235". Yikes. Maybe they will group better if I don't have the bullets crammed against the rifling! I resized down to 2.230", and I'll give that a try.
My rig is a Rem 700 VTR. 1-9" twist. You guys experience similar issues? I understand the problem, but don't see why they wouldn't load to industry standard max.
