.224 BSB 64 gr

Guess I kind of duplicated JD here but shot one into jugs from one of the 223s today.
3100 fps at 25 yds.
52.3 gr .413 expanded
Load if it matters is 24.5 8208 XBR, Winchester brass, CCI SR primer (forgot the number)COAL 2.26".
Went through 4 jugs, found it between the 4th and 5th. Put a heckuva dent in 5.
Impressive little bullet.

I would think that bullet from a faster twist 224 would be pretty good. A fast twist 22-250 might be just right. :grin: My 1-8 223 shoots them very well.

Not that anyone here would enable but a nice 22-250 or 220 would probably fit well in your collection

Nice test Dewey here is a link to the same bullet out of a .223 at 2673 fps not the 3100 fps that I SWAG'd and Guy set me straight was probably not correct. It still performed pretty darn well. Sure would work on a deer.

I'd like to have one as well Mike. I have been without a fast .224 for too long. Certainly wouldn't hurt to have one of these along when trying to count coup on on some WOOF's! :lol:

Funnily enough, Scotty, I've never (NEVER, I say) owned a centrefire twenty-two. Consequently, I've just been conducting inventory on my powders and my bullets, and (as you might expect), twenty-two calibre bullets are rather scarce on my shelves.

I never had much interest in buying a .223 until the rimfire scare. Once quality CCI 22lr was going for 13 cents a round and Shooters Pro Shop was selling their varmint and custom comp. bullets for the same price or less I scooped one up. Free 223/556 brass is everywhere.
