I'm taking my Montana Rifle Co .358 Win to South Africa next month, and have found that 52.0 gr of W-748, once-fired Win brass and a CCI LR primer gets the 225 gr Partition to 2531 avg FPS and shoots groups under 1/2 inch. (Best so far is .392" ) I worked to that load from 48.0 gr, and went all the way up to 54.0 gr, but gained only 30 FPS per grain of powder weight and lost accuracy. As 200 yards will be along shot where we will be hunting, per the PH, I feel confident that this load willwork just fine on kudu, gemsbok, etc.

I have used this bullet in my 35 Whelen with great success.
Good luck on your hunt.

If I can push a 225 gr bt through a 200 lb hog at 100 yds with my 358 sporting a 15 inch barrel you wont have any problems . Have a great time in Africa and take lots of picures for us. On a side note I was at the range this weekend and a gent had a new ruger hawkeye in 358 that I was seriously concidering and he let me shoot it . I liked everything about the gun except the stock was too short (Im 6' 5) . Then I let him shoot my 358 encore, once was enough for him.

My 225-gn Partition load is 52 grains of IMR4895 in a necked-up Winchester case, with a Federal 210 primer. This gives me a smidge under 2500 fps, like 2475 or so, from a 20" PacNor barrel.

I think this is a hot load- maybe too hot for your rifle, so should you choose to try it make sure and work up to it!

.358 Win is an awesome caliber that suffers from lack of bullet choice. Most of the .35 bullets are for a 35 Whelen. Every chance we get, us .358 guys need to beg Nosler for a 200-gn Partition or AccuBond.
