Hello

i just thinking to use my 240wby on coyotes.

so the 85grs always has a exit, but what about the 55grs b. tip at 4000fps??

so it could be good or bad idea??????

best regards

With the velocities your 240 WM will generate, you are going to have big exits. Stay away from bone or they will be bigger exits.

If it were me, I would go with a heavier bullet at a lower velocity to minimize the size of exit wounds. The higher BC of the 90 gr and 95 gr BT's will give you less wind drift at long range and the retained speed and energy down range will be greater than the 55 gr BT.

With the velocities your 240 WM will generate, you are going to have big exits. Stay away from bone or they will be bigger exits.

If it were me, I would go with a heavier bullet at a lower velocity to minimize the size of exit wounds. The higher BC of the 90 gr and 95 gr BT's will give you less wind drift at long range and the retained speed and energy down range will be greater than the 55 gr BT.

thanks jd338

just one question, at 4000fps the small 55grs bullet does not disintegrate inside a coyote??

because in my 243win the bullet sierra 60grs hp it remained to inside of some coyotes, it did not reach to exit

but if it is, then I used the E-TIP for all, in that caliber including predators and deer

best regards

fan300mag

Keep in mind that the solid base of the bullet is going to exit.

I've shot well over a hundred coyotes with the 55's out of my 6mm Rem, running in the 4000-4100 range... they exit about 9 times out of 10. Sometimes it's pretty ugly... other times the exit is about the size of a quarter. I've never had one "Splash on the hide"... this is a common complaint about the 55's at mach 4... but it has never happened to me... and I think I'd have seen it by now.

At 4k plus... I shoot them about +1" @ 100 yards... and they're only about -2.5" @ 300 yards... -10" @ 400 yards... You'd have to look long and hard (that's what she said) to find a load that's flatter.

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the good feedback on the performance of the 6mm 55 gr BT.
