Anyone have these? load any? How long are they? I looked back a few months and saw no titled threads covering them. Listed in new precision reloading catalog, so i assume they are out.

I have been loading them in my son's 6mm Remington for 3 years now and he has taken several antelope and a nice mule deer buck. This year he shot a great big cow elk at 350 yards! One shot right behind her right shoulder and it EXITED her left shoulder right in the center of the shoulder. Pretty good performance. She went all of maybe 25-30 yards before she dropped dead. I was sure hoping to recover one, but it appeared to have performed perfectly and for a little bullet the penetration and damage done was excellent.

In his 22" barrel on his Ruger MKII, the load I use chronographs at right about 3160-3180 fps without any pressure signs. I'm using the new Hodgdon H100V powder in his load. I'm impressed by the bullet but I'm still shooting 100 gr. Partitions in my 6mm. It likes them so that's what I use. Good luck and I think you will like the performance of the bullet.

My search skills must be poor. When i use keywords (90gr etip) or (243 etip) i get extremely limited returns. Something about being out soon from last summer.

baltz,

For the 6mm/.243 90 grain E-Tip the OAL is 1.180" and the B/C is 0.403

I know two individuals using this bullet. The one that shoots a bolt .243 likes IMR7828SSC.

The guy shooting 6mm Rem. likes Varget and 8208. Both are right at .100" off the lands.

Good luck,

If i try them, They will be used in a remington model 7 1-9" 18" barrel. 1.180" for the 90gr Etip. thanks

looks like the 90gr Etip is about .010" longer than a 100gr sierra BTSP and .010" shorter than a sierra 107gr HPBT match. Right now i'm getting best velocity and accuracy out of the sierra 85gr HPBT game kings. They are .942"

Here is a photo of my son with his cow. You can see the exit hole from the E-Tip right in the middle of her left shoulder from his 6mm Remington. Okay I'm a proud dad and he made a great shot from prone with a bi-pod at 350 yards, but you need a good bullet to take care of business on the other end too, and I sure have been impressed with the E-Tips.

Awesome picture and unreal performance from a 6mm on elk! Really nice! Scotty

Wow!!! Full penetration, through the shoulder, cow elk, 350 yrds with a .243? That is AWESOME! I once blasted a Barnes tsx in .243 clean through a 150# hogs shoulder at 30 yrds and thought that was respectable. Man, That is great to hear that a .243, with that bullet, is capable of taking elk at that range. Doubt I would try it, but good to know.

I think these new "mono metal" bullets, be they the copper Barnes bullets, or the gilding metal of the Nosler E-Tips, are opening up some great potential for successfully using the lighter, easier-kicking cartridges on bigger game. Just like the elk pictured above...

I was expecting more active use feedback. I'll try to get into SPS in bend tomorrow to pick some up with luck. With extreme luck i'll pick up some seconds.

6MM, I would be showing that pic off every chance I got! That is a job very well done by the shooter, bullet, and rifle. I'm not sure I'll be takking my .243 elk hunting but I might have to load some up for a girl friend of mine that shoots a .243. She was thinking about getting a bigger rifle, but she really needs to stick with the .243 for a while.

I think Guy is right as far as good bulllets opening door for smaller calibers.

No seconds in the bins. bought a box of full price to try. Nice looking bullet, 1.184" average

No seconds, but I did see that they had them on sale on the Nosler web site under the promotions

Setting up for a test. Determined that the 90gr Etip touches the lands at 2.730" oal. My normal first test oal would be to seat at 2.725" or 2.720". Nosler suggests .050"-.100" from lands. This would be 2.680" to 2.630". 1/10th of an inch is a pretty large jump. It is not what i found as best in the 300win mag i have. But it has a deep throat and magazine limits. .030" is about where it is set. I have 4 loaded at 2.720 using IMR7828ssc. cci250, new RP brass. I;m starting with 100gr data. If the sun comes out this weekend i'll shoot a few.

I now have 5 at 2.720". 5 at 2.700". 5 at 2.680". 5 at 2.660" loaded for the test. about 50 brass sized/trimmed for the next step, powder work up.

Curious, why would you do a lands test prior to a powder ladder test?? Seems to me that you would set the round .10-.15 off the lands to start and work on powder loads. Then once you figure your zone, work on distance off the lands to bring your groups even tighter.

Im no expert and have been reloading only for the past year. Just looking for clarification. I do mine, same as the above.

With my .243-100gr Sierra Gk on the lands is at 2.674 COAL. With a Nosler 55gr BT I am at COAL 2.710. Unfortunatley I have yet to buy the precision mic so I can actually figure out where the ogive lies.

I load hunting ammo. Perfect accuracy is not what i look for. I look for very consistant loads with good accuracy. nosler has a slip of paper in every box of Etips. Saying best accuracy is at .050 to .100 off the lands. So i'm doing a major off the lands test with a known consistant accuracy weight of powder for 100gr bullets. when i find the best length, I will then look at velocity and work the powder up if needed. Experimenting

I shot these loads today. The 2.700" oal load shot the best group the rifle ever shot. 5 into under 1 1/2". 2700fps average. the rifle is a remington mod7. 18.5" youth. rpbrass cci250, 44gr imr7828ssc. A bit on the slow side but my oal test did show a sweet spot with the Etip oal. I did take pictures of each load test.
