I have not loaded for the .243 in a long time, most of my time has been spent with the 6mm. I was thinking about Varget for 85gr HPBT and something like H414, W760, H4350 or RL17 for 95gr BT. Any recomendations and personal experiences?

Well for the 95 gr BT IMR 4350 seems to work for me and everbody else. I have also been using some H1000 with the 95 gr VLD, 105 Amax, and 105 NCC. All shoot well under an inch, and get great speeds. The Amax and 105 NCC shoot under half inch, most of the time in the ".3 range.

If you do anything with the RL-17 let me know. I'm very interested in how that works.

I would think that Varget would work great for 85 gr. H414 is also a good powder for the 243 in the mid to light bullet range.

My first load I worked up for my 243 was 85gr Sierra GK's using Varget. It is a very accurate combo, and the speed was around 3200 I believe. That is actually a very tough little bullet. I have used IMR3031 with the 95gr PT and that worked pretty well also. My load was kinda mild at 2875, but again, it was very accurate and the little PT would do very good I believe. Now I have been working with 100gr PT's and 95gr BT's and am still trying to get something I really like at a reasonably fast speed. Good luck, hope you find a good one. Scotty

I've had good luck with RL22 and 100 grain Nosler Partitions. IMR 4064 also worked well for me.

Accurate 3100 really was accurate and really made 100 gr bullets move for me when I was shooting a 243. I was using a little more powder than they call for as a max load these days but it was same in my 2 rifles.

My go to powders for the 243Win were IMR 4895 with70 gr bullets and IMR 4350 with 95 -100 gr bullets.

I have had great luck with Varget and 70gr BTs. Samething with 95gr BTs and 105 AMAX with Hybrid 100V.
