Hi fellas, I just bought a Tikka T3 hunter in .243 win, I'll be using it for Deer and Coyotes as well,(mostly Deer) I'll be trying the 100gr Partitons, and 100gr Hornady Interlocks as well, the one that shoots the best well get the green light. Would like to hear any feed back on any .243 shooters, I think it's a great little cartridge :)

Here's my setup, thanks,Lou.

Very nice cartridge. I don't use it but do use it's near identical twin the 6mm Remington. Both are great for the uses you mention. I prefer the Partition in mine and my son uses the 90 gr. E-tip in his.

Pretty rifle. Tikka's are known to shoot very well.

Thanks David :)

Yeah, I really like the Partition as well, I'm hoping they'll shoot moa for me, I'll be shooting the rifle this weekend. As for the optics, I really like the Leupold's, and was looking at the VX-II, and the Vortex Diamond Back, I found that the Vortex was much clearer, and the images to be much more crisp, it's really good glass for the money, and great warranty as well.
I can't wait to get to the range, and break in this .243

Very nice Lou. That's a danged sharp little rifle.

I've always run a 95 grain BT or 100 PT. Both of them are about the same on deer. Shot a couple with the 85 grain Sierra GK as well, but Noslers are a little more to my liking.

Nice rifle Lou.
That'll be fun.
I shoot a 6 mm so not much help but I shoot the 95 BT.

Nice rifle. I sure wish Beretta would import that model to the USA. My .243 we use the 95 Btips and are Deer slayers. Lee

Seriously consider trying the 95 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip. It's almost a cult-bullet, people like it so much. Including me, and my son. Accurate as all get out, and drops deer dead as can be, quickly. Usually penetrates right on out the other side as well. IMHO it's the best 6mm deer bullet avail.

Congrats on the new rifle!

Here's a link to a great article on loading for the .243 Win: http://www.6mmbr.com/243Win.html

Yeah Lee, I'm surprised that Beretta hasn't got the T3 hunter stainless fluted barrel down south :?

It's a real nice rifle Lee, I'm a Sako kinda guy, but this tikka is nice as well, I'm more than likely going to try the 95 BT's as well, but leaning more to the PT's if they shoot well for me.

Lou

You can't beat either one Lou. They will both serve double duty for coyotes and deer.

I am in Guy's camp though. Never recovered a 95 BT. That include a buck that was shot in the rear by a young hunter when he zonked his shot. Funny thing was that deer didn't go 100 yards and was stone DEAD.

Your not going to know what to do when that little 243 goes off.. You might wonder if you had a misfire since your so used to those boomers!

Tikkas are nice , you sure do get your moneys worth. They have gone up in price since my first M595 in 243 and 695 in 7MM Rem mag. I love my new T3 .308 it is a super lite.Lee

Really nice looking gun Lou, I thought you only liked the big boomers  Should be a welcome addition to your line up.

I know a old time hunter that has been hunting at least 50 years. He hunts everything from Moose to Coyotes and has used the 243 exclusively along with the 100gr. Partition for most of that 50 years ! Tikka is a good working mans rifle I am sure it will serve you well.

Blessings,
Dan

Hi Dan, I actually bought this rifle with my grandson in mind, he's almost 2, heck it's his in another 10 yrs (y) ..BUT, I'm gonna use it until then, even with my .375, If I had to use the .243 for newfy moose I would, the conditions would have to be perfect, and plant that 100gr PT right where he lives, moose go down pretty fast with proper shot placement :) ..Hmm, I might just do that this fall

Lou

My Grandpa hunted everything from coyotes to elk with his pre '64 .243. He had other caliber choices but always grabbed that 243. You made a good choice.

Hi Lou, I actually give you some wrong info he uses 95gr partitions .

Blessings,
Dan
