Has any one tried the e-tip with retumbo powder and what was the outcome with the 257 wm.Had some friends praise it with the 115 grn tsx.i was thinkin of buying a lb and trying it out. :) 8)

With the 100 gr e-1tip? Start with about 56 gr and work up. My guess is you will run out of space before you max out.

RL 25 might be better.

If you have some IMR 4831 try it. I've had pretty good luck with velocity and finding a load with 100 TTSXs @ 3600 ft/sec. Should be similar with the e-tips.

I think they are a bit "sticky" for IMR 4831. Slower powders apply here. The TSX's are way less pressure builders.

POP I've used the same load for fouling shots with 100 BTs and haven't seen any pressure issues. The BT are actually more accurate. Are the e-tips themselves "more sticky". I've none some loading with the 180s in a 300 Win Mag but I've kept the loads very conservative so I wouldn't know if they had pressure issues.

Yes I did find them to be pressure builder, like the original Barnes X. In my 7mm rem mag use 66 gr of RL22 for the 160 AccuBond for 3080 fps. With the 150 E-tip I maxed out at 62 gr and 3250 fps!!!!!

Pop thanks. I'll keep an eye on that and not jump ahead on the powder charges. .5 at a till I get it right. I was thinking of running a few through a 257 Weatherby. Maybe not. It isn't my rifle anyway. Have you found them to do the two good and one right out of the of the park thing I remember the old Barnes Xs doing as soon as you got close to acceptable velocities??

Jim

Not really. My guns either love them or hate them with little moderation.

But man! do they work on game! And with a great BC as opposed to the crappy bc's of the X's. Been begging for a 270 gr for my 378 for a long time!

I have some 100gr'er's I would like to try out in my new .257. They have some good BC's and should be excellent bullets for heavier game to some extent. Scotty
