Pulled out some 117 Grain Sierra Ammo I loaded in 08. Rifle is a 700 Classic. The brass is new W-W +P. The chamber on this rifle is tight. New brass goes in with some resistance on the bolt handle and comes out fire formed with a small ring indented at the top of the case body. Full length sizing is all the way with this one although neck sizing works well with brass fired in this rifle.
1st three shots were spread so I fired a couple more. Glad to keep them in a group.

The Bob is a sweet cartridge. For a five-shot group, that looks pretty fair. It would provide a good starting place, if nothing else. It is plenty good to hunt, however.

The 700 Classic 257 Roberts is an accurate rifle and cartridge.
I shot this group with the 115 gr BT a couple months back and it has proven to be very accurate out to 600 yds.

Jim, that group assuredly makes me want to get my Bob out for some more work. Excellent work.

And this is what Sue did with the rifle and load at 400 yds, 2.065" c/c!

Very compelling. If moose didn't open this week, I'd definitely be working a load for my Bob.

Alderman,

You are there! Nice shooting buddy.

Those are some excellent groups, Alderman. The load and the rifleman is doing what it should.

I don't know about that. Looks to me that your are just as capable as the rifle since the rifle didn't shoot them groups by itself. Awesome groups.

This was awhile back when I could see a bit better. Older eyes now.
Was the exception and not the rule back then also.
For hunting ammo anymore I am more concerned with what the worst result is and if results can be repeated. I have no problem hunting a load that will shoot 1 1/2-2 groups consistently as long as it doesn't spread them further on occasions. I don't think I've ever taken a poke at one of our Pacific Blacktails at much over 200 yards. Some as close as 20 yards and most within 150.
I get a little pickier with antelope ammo.
