When my buddy Frank traded his 257 Weatherby Accumark for bullet's 375 it left a big void in his heart! but I believe this will make up for it.

Thanks JD. It's my buddy Franks rifle. I just picked it up today from the smith. We will mount a Vortex Viper 6.5X20X50 on it. I'll slap together a load for it tonight and will try it in the morning.

I have 115 grain Barnes TSX on hand. I'll try both IMR 4831 or 7828 and see which powder will perform better. I have the old data from the Accumark so it will be my starting point.

That is a BEAUTIFUL classic rifle! Outstanding...

Great cartridge too... Thanks for sharing this hunter's rifle. It ought to do a fine job! The quarter-bores have always impressed me. Grandpa had an early .257 built by Weatherby on a Mauser action. Dad has that rifle now and is holding it for my son. It likely needs some help anymore. Been about 25 years since I've shot it, and it was well used at that point.

Great cartridge too...

I hear you Guy. I have another buddy who owns one and it his primary deer rifle. He just came back from Wyoming and shot a pronghorn at 910 yards. What really impressed me about this round is that, it shoot's really flat. He loaned it to his son, in one of the local 1K competitions, and his son placed 2nd. He finished last with his custom Nesika built 338 Lapua. He told me that 257 get's to 1K really fast.
