What kind of speed could I expect if loading 100gr. partitions from a 20" barrel and does anyong have any loads for a model 7?

The general rule of thumb is you lose about 25 fps/inch from the barrel lenght used in the development of the data. This shouldn`t be enough to worry about.
I have a M700 with a 24" bbl and a M84 Kimber with a 22", both in 260. With the exact same handloads in each rifle the 22 inch Kimber acually runs 20-30 fps faster then the longer barrel with bullets from 120 - 140 gr in certain loads. The chamber and bore are likely tighter then the Remingtons and pressures a bit more also, but it just shows there are no cut and dry results when we start comparing rifles and loads.

What loads are you using in your Kimber M84? I have one and I'm starting to handload for it. I'm particularly interested in 125-140gr loads.

Thanks

Mine is a Rem 700 Mt Rifle with a 22" barrel and it loves:

120gr NBT
45grs H414
OAL 2.800"
Winchester primers

Nice to see someone else from TN on here. Also nice to see another teacher.

I haven`t shot 125gr Noslers in my Kimber M84 yet, only the M700. It does well with either R19 or H4350 in this rifle.

In the M84 I used the 129 gr Hornady over 45gr of R19 for 2782 fps. This is the max I would go in my rifle. The 140 Hornady SP with 44.5 gr R22 went 2701 fps and the 140 Nosler Partition and 45 gr of H4831sc showed fine accuracy but my battery went on my croney that day and I didn`t get good velocity data. It appeared to be running just over 2600 fps for the couple of readings I got. All were primed with the Remington 9 1/2 LR.

The load of choice in the past for both rifles has been the 129gr Hornady with R19. It is very accurate and has dropped 5 whitetail for me so far with all bullets exiting. I am looking this year at the 120 BT though with H4350 as a hunting load and may just try it this year. I have heard more then a few claim it is a good deer bullet and it certainly is a very accurate one. If I do, and get a shot, I`ll report back on my results.

Double check any load you are thinking of trying in your manual. They have been safe in my rifles but I have no idea how they will do in yours.

my 22" BROWNING A -BOLT in 260 Rem did about 3300 fps with 100 gr BT and PT. You should get about 3200 fps or so with just 2" less bbl.

I think POP is running a bit hot to get 3300fps from a 22" bbl. I would think 3100fps could be reached easily in the 20", maybe 3150fps. I like VV150 in my .260ai w/ 100grNBTs.
